I wonder who is this guy supposed to be

Are you fucking kidding me?

Sorry look at the crowd. It's full of clones.
Did you miss the three or so times this also happened in MSQ? What else were you expecting at this point?

On a completely different, but related note

I really don't want to play this patch. I haven't wanted to not play XIV this hard since Stormblood.

The slump in Stormblood has nothing on this.

7.1 is the first major patch addition since I started playing a few months back. Never would I ever have imagined my response to new story content would be complete disinterest. Even in Stormblood's worst moments I never felt the complete sense of apathy 7.1 has cultivated in me now.

See, I cite Stormblood because that was literally the last time I felt so disinterested in playing the game any further and then proceeded to drop it until December of 2019, well after Shadowbringers had been out for a number of months.

You have the benefit of coming to the game just a few months ago. I've been playing since 2.0, maybe 2.1 if we want to be realistic. The slump is much worse when you're currently staring down the barrel of it, as you are just now discovering.

GRANTED, I will make the concession that it took up to MIDWAY through Stormblood's patch cycle to finally lose me. I really only had to catch up on two patches worth of content before starting Shadowbringers when I did finally come back. This shit right here, on the other hand, is losing me right out of the gate, and that's a pretty bad sign given how much I'm willing to put up with before hitting my breaking point.

Devil's advocate: This is probably the largest crowd they've ever depicted in a cutscene, they probably had to use clones to conserve resources. This is usually how large crowds are rendered in any games or media.
Yeah, I just wish they covered their faces or maybe used 3 more npc clones because it is kind of distracting. This story has also been pissing me off lately. It’s extremely rare for a story to actively make me angry, but this story is and anything minor or distracting ends up getting exasperated.

Again, this happened at least 3 times in the MSQ as well. I don't know why you may have been expecting anything better by now.

Pretty sure in those 3 cases the NPCs that were copypasted were a lot less colourful so it wasn't as obvious.
Every scene it happened in featured a large number of Tuliyollal citizens and they absolutely wear colorful clothing.

I think some of you need to go back and (God forbid) rewatch most of the "big speech at the Dawn Throne" scenes. I was spotting copypasted NPCs left, right, and center on my first go-around.

As I'm slogging through this expansion I owe Steven Danuser of Blizzard Entertainment an apology. You are not the worst writer in the gaming industry.
Nah. Danuser is still the worst. Never forget the Jailer and his 'plan' or how awful Shadowlands was.

Dawntrail is trite, hokey and suffering from being a JRPG game. As much as I have bagged on the story, it is still better than Danuser's drivel.

Being able to put lvl. 1 outfits into the glamour dresser as 1 item means I've got finally more space, hopefully they'll eventually get around to having a system that doesn't feel like pulling teeth

Apparently it removes dyes, but I'm all for people wasting money on jet black dye being punished

Looks like it was Wuk Lmao's dub during the final trial that got "fixed" as people expected.
I can't tell the difference though, still sounds like a man pretending to be a woman.
I can’t believe it got worse. Wuk sounds extremely constipated. At least the speeeen lissun tu mi line had a memetic charm to it. And of course white knights are defending it saying “see it was the voice director’s fault not Sena’s!”

New extreme is very good imo. Especially if we compare it to last expansion's third extreme. There's a hell of a lot more variety of mechanics in the fight and repeating mechanics is pretty minimal this time round. Endwalker EX3 was a huge disappointment to me because it repeated so early and it didn't have a special "extra thing" like literally every other base expansion ending trial has. The new Extreme has an additional phase at the very end with only a couple mechanics, but still it gives a nice way to round out the trial.

We also don't have Wuk Lamat jumping in at the last 15%, so that's a significant improvement.

I've heard of people trolling with Superbolide macros but I've literally never seen people abuse it myself in the last two years (on EU datacentre mind), just timing issues like others have mentioned. Is this another case of "we can't have nice things because a nigger server ruined it"?

Probably. I used to troll around with that shit in semi-casual content and with my static during Shadowbringers. It was pretty funny because all it did was weed out white mages that weren't holding their benediction for the tank buster anyway.

The Chaotic thing was to fuck with the length of the cooldown via macro.

E; But I was also in the DC where you were considered a shitter if you tanked the Crystal Tower dragon mid and not north so, worst DC.

Just completed the Alliance Raid. Holy shit, Sareel Ja really just went, "I should have died, but didn't."
We really went full "Somehow, Sareel Ja returned." here.

Logged in and thought about going through the MSQ, but just made a low effort meme expressing my current sentiment instead before logging back out.

I was sent into a laughing fit by the first voiced cutscene.
So one of my complaints in the main game was that the US and UK studios had totally different recording levels and masters. It sounded so obvious that these were two completely disparate setups that had zero effort put into unifying them.

How is this issue addressed in this first instance of extra voice-work? Well, it's clear that in the end the master was given to one studio rather than to two separate studios. And I think it's pretty clearly the US studio, because the reverb effect sounds like a fucking stock audacity plugin. I would hear a character talk and I'm just like... holy shit. How is it this amateur? How is it this... bad? Go ahead and re-listen to the funeral - really pay attention to the echo. Does that make any sense for where they are? What the hell is that reverb?
