Hitler ran around lying and saying hate speech, then won an election and everyone went "well, guess we're Nazis now" and the Holocaust happens. No. Hitler was in politics for over a decade, he never won an election until they outlawed the opposition, he came to power as the largest party in a coalition and the others were forced into finally accepting him because there was no other numerical possibility. The Nazis didn't immediately consolidate control over the country, that took years and Hitler ringing up all kinds policy "victories" plus suppression of any opposition. World War II doesn't happen until he's in power for six years and Germany hits the limits of peaceful expansion, which is like 15-20 years after he started in politics. The no fooling part of the Holocaust comes still later after previous methods fail and the war constrains the ability of the state to expel the unwanteds.

Literally none of this shit is the situation of the United States. France has not recently occupied an important industrial part of our disarmed country. The globe is not suffering from an intractable seeming depression. Liberalism and democracy are not new concepts for our culture or society. The President is not currently ruling by decree because the government is split by coalitions that refuse to work with each other. On and on.

You could be right, I think Tony's grift might pay dividends in the short-term but will peter out fast.
