The whole premise of this meme is "being a farm worker is too hard for you, that's why we need Mexicans to do it." It also seems to take as a given that long hours and low wages are something that can't be changed because all that left wing stuff about wanting better conditions for workers flies out the window when the workers are immigrants. The gist of it is, "you say immigrants are competing with American citizens, yet how many American citizens want to be farm workers?" but it doesn't stop to wonder why being a farm worker is such a miserable job. Couldn't be anything to do with having a large exploitable labor pool that shifts power to the side of capital making negotiating for better conditions impossible. It's just "we need cheap labour for our farms therefore we need undocumented immigrants", it's not that different to the Articles of Secession argument of "we need cotton for our economy, therefore we need slaves."

It's frustrating because the "reserve army of labor" is a pretty big thing in Marxism. But liberals forget about it when the labourers are immigrants. It's so obvious that they don't actually give a shit about Latinos they just see them as a sort of servant class that are there to be exploited by capital. Incidentally Cesar Chavez used to organize gangs to go beat up illegal immigrants because he knew that they were undercutting the (mostly Mexican-American) union farmworkers who worked those jobs.

I'm thinking this is going to be something of a theme in the memes I'm going to see. Do you think they will ever form some form of a connection between Latinos not voting for them anymore and the fact that they can't help but take every available opportunity to say that they see Latinos as nothing but a source of cheap exploitable labor?
