If the news would stop playing them up as an evil, Satanic cabal of Neo-Nazis and focus on how pathetic they actually are, I honestly think that would hit them where it really hurts.

764 and its offshoots' whole modus operandi is to use fear as a weapon, control other people, and use that control to make group members feel more powerful. They target younger or severely mentally ill adolescents because those groups are more likely than literal children to have unmonitored Internet access, but are still more vulnerable to manipulation and threats than relatively healthy adults. They do this online because, without distance and anonymity, the majority of them know they'd get their asses beat sooner rather than later, then be forced to bite the curb.

They love the narrative that they're a mysterious and sinister force hellbent on undermining Western civilization by committing atrocities for the Prince of Darkness himself, so news stories need to stop giving it to them. Of the members arrested so far, only Angel Almeida seems to have been a sincere ideologue inspired by the Order of Nine Angles, and the O9A itself is just a group of Druid-LARPers who ripped off of Crowley. They should just pull back the curtain and let everyone know that Oz the Great and Powerful is actually a group of unfuckable malignant narcissists who shoot fish in a barrel and claim to be Bill Dance.

This kind of extortion has probably been going on since the camera was invented but the first case I came across was Matthew Falder. An outgoing and respected goblin from a very well off family. Quite charismatic and liked among his peers despite his appearance. Last I heard his family and gf/fiance(?) were all standing by him. These faggots are some of the most malignant yet pathetic sadists in existence imo. A very strange dichotomy but makes sense when you consider what sad sacks they are. Rope is one of the only options (the others are bloodier). Sadists without power to act are absolutely pathetic.

I've been idly investigating this portion of the VRChat community for a while now, except I haven't really made any progress besides coming across a few com girls and groomers. If you or anyone else has any information regarding the cesspool, I'd be very interested in hearing it.

The best explanation I've read had to do with a Russian Neo-Nazi Accelerationist group who posted a manifesto and "handbook" for committing terrorist attacks. Only a few of the segments dealing with the easiest possible methods to do that were actually fleshed out, and they were copied almost wholecloth from The Anarchist Cookbook and an Islamic State publication.

The idea is pretty simple. Groups like this know that extremists are  supposed to write manifestos and pass out propaganda encouraging attacks. The problem is, they aren't Ted Kaczynski, William Powell, or even IS. They don't have the intellectual sophistication to come up with a coherent philosophy of their own, or the knowledge needed to plan mass terror attacks that take more than a gun, knife, or car to commit. So, they try to make extremely simple ideas sound profound (in this case, a mix of solipsism, individualist anarchism, and moral nihilism, all warped in a way that doesn't really make sense in order to justify sadism), and copy-paste from the ideas of other people who had two brain cells to rub together.

Ultimately, they'd probably be better off just admitting that they're sick fucks who gain pleasure from torturing teenagers. Publishing manifestos and encouraging others to behave the same way  is what extremists do, and imitating actual terrorists is a good way to add terrorism charges to your already long list of felonies. It sounds grandiose and important when you're posting it online, but when you're hearing your supposed ideological motives read out in court, I'm sure all that nonsense about only being sure of your own existence and being obligated to violate moral standards in order to be free sounds very different.
