While I want to believe he's awaiting to hand over his computer to law enforcement and has thus gotten a new one, the more likely possibility is him engaging in evidence tampering and the idiot doesn't realize that's another charge.

He clearly wanted to trust that Nick would never put him in legal harm's way on account of Nick being a lawyer (as if Nick's own arrest wasn't tipping him off on what a collossally stupid idea that'd be). Interesting that Nick is straight-up ignoring him and he kicked him out of what was likely a Signal group with the rest of the conspirators. Nick is probably treating Melton as radioactive.
