Final Fantasy XIV - Kiwi Free Company

Never did an alliance raid on day 1 before. I liked how chaotic it was for us trying to figure out where to position and since I forgot to turn off the effects at first it was also funny because I didn't see Prishe, I saw a constant colorful glow of effects jumping around the arena... then I got punched into spikes. There's also something charming seeing someone unironically called Shadow Lord in 2024 (I know its an FF11 character, but still).

What was the FUCKING POINT THEN?

That one spoiler alone has managed to send me from "I don't want to play this patch" to "Fuck this patch".

I swear, Alexandria really has been the bullet to the back of the head of this game's narrative.
Even better.
There's two Sphenes now. The good twin and the evil twin.

I don't get why the alliance raid story has a whole quest just going "TACOS, BURRITOS, ALPACAS!" all over again, as if we didn't already get a shit ton of that in 7.0
I honestly feel embarrassed on behalf of the writers.

I'm reading through the comments on the FFXIV discussion sub and it looks very negative. Even the main sub is starting to go "yeah, Dawntrail just sucks doesn't it".

Literally the one thing preventing it from being all-round awful is that the playable content is pretty decent. It's basically Stormblood 2.0, except with a worse story.

I'm fed up of literally every single issue being just "learn our culture and the perfect solution comes out of nowhere".

Solution Nine's people are just insufferable retards, I was so tempted to just skip the scenes there.
One of the first scenes showed a father and son reconnecting after the years of time discrepancy apart, and I thought that was an interesting thing to witness; the after effects of the big event, and how every day people are dealing (or not dealing) with it, but it was over in an instant, and I was back to witnessing Wuk Lamat screech and clench her fists.

I'll be honest, I had no expectations of the story getting better so I just didn't even bother watching the cutscenes. Also, the solo duty is more or less almost impossible to fail, you can literally stand there and do nothing and like before Wuk LMAO will do everything. It's really insulting just how little Hiroi seems to give a shit about the player character. The alliance raid was fun but I don't have any real frame of reference for the characters as I never played FFXI.

Judging from what I've read from the story, I might seriously just not even bother with DT if I ever pick this game back up; unless the next several patches manage to legit fix everything, then I might just legit wait until 8.0 comes out and purchase a story skip. And that's assuming that 8.0 ends up being any decent.

Like, I'm going to be completely honest with you gents, I'm willing to overlook a terrible story if the gameplay is good enough; I managed to get some entertainment out of Borderlands 3, for instance, by ignoring the god-awful story and enjoying the gameplay. The opposite is also true; I can appreciate a good story to the point where I can ignore even the most annoying of controls. The problem is, from what I've been seeing and hearing from you guys, is that DT is failing on both fronts; the story is bad because Wuk keeps fucking everything up, and the gameplay's been neutered to appeal to journalists.

I admit, I'm still holding onto a bit of hope, but... unless Yoshi manages to pull all this back from the brink, then it's not going to go well.

Alright, now that I've slept I can tackle this trainwreck in finer detail:

Scene was actually interesting. Focusing on the time difference between the dome and the rest of the continent and how anyone that was in there grew up, started a family, only to return back to their homeland to see that they're older than their own parents. I want to see more of this and how people will deal with it, interact and coexist. But just as quick as it appeared, it was gone. Probably the sole good thing out of the entire MSQ this patch.

I want Alexandria to be bombed into the ground and everyone to die. Like, I understand why they're like this, but it's really hard for me to not find myself annoyed every time one of these faggots speak. They've been so insulated and coddled from hardship that they have literal mental breakdowns at the slightest mishap. Even Eulmorans weren't this fucking bad. Fuck, even the fucking equivalent to real world north korea, the GARLEANS put on their bootstraps when shit hit the fan. Not the Alexandrians. Every time one of these insufferable cunts is on screen it's "waaaaah waaaah my queen waaaah waaaah my souls, waaaah waaaah what are we gonna do waaaaaah"
Instead of focusing on the real issues plauging a civilization that's orchestrated it's own entropic decline and growing destabilization, we have to sit here and watch them cry like toddlers while sitting around waiting for others to make the hard choices for them. Even when Turali are mentioned to be around who hold more traditional Turali beliefs on death, none of them speak up. It's like they don't exist because if any of them speak up it would be uncovenient to their little plot point of Alexandrian being a kingdom of whiny crybabies that throw a fit when their binkies fall outta their mouths.
The funeral crowd was full of the same copy pasted 3 models. Some kid had a whiny tantrum that made me what to punch him in the face.

This is the part that pissed me off the most because it was a gigantic fucking nothingburger. I was curious about the little blue shite's mom since I beat base DT. They immediately get into finding out about her and I actually thought this was good. We'd learn about the kid's mom and maybe by extension learn more about his dad too, what he was up to during those 20 years and how or why he even had a kid. The big reveal? The kids mom was some nobody healer broad part of Zoraal Ja's unit when he went to kill a tural vidraal and she had this creepy obsession with him where she would literally fucking stalk him. When she found him in the dome, she willingly does whatever he tells her to do and I shit you not, in exchange for being his good little lapdog, she asks him to dick her pathetic, simping ass down so that he could impregnate her and then she'd have an excuse to basically tie him to her forever by shoving a baby into his face and expecting him to suddenly drop everything to be her fantasy husband even though he literally told her beforehand that what she's asking of him has ZERO value to him. So naturally, blud has an absolute meltdown that he was tricked into having a kid with his own unresolved daddy issues and completely rejects both her and the kid . She proceeds to have a cry that he didn't love her back, dumps her kid into a lake and presumably dies off screen in whatever incident happened there. We didn't learn anything about Zorral Ja besides what we already knew. All of this was just a fucking waste. We learned nothing fucking new about Zoraal Ja. In the end, none of the information mattered because the kid just shrugs at everything and just goes "welp now I know, thanks" and continues on like normal.

Got some backstory on this guy. Didn't really care for him. I was annoyed that now he was having a chance to shine, Wuk is around instead of doing her own stint by staying behind in the city but of course, the writers want her to be constantly glued to our anus because instead of being an actual ruler she just wants to play adventure time with us all the fucking time instead while she let's her twink brother do all the actual work.
Anyway, after a single quest, twinkie suddenly develops a rroaneek kink and helps the native american cats out by doing machinist stuff to kill a dinosuar, yadda yadda yadda, found family, yadda yadda yadda then he fucks off back to the city so that Wuk can keep playing adventure time with us while he goes back to do actual dawnservant stuff. The end of this plot point. Oh yeah, train is back up. Ended up not mattering though because all of the Alexandrians (who were the main reason why the train was fixed) complaining about wanting to go out the dome changed their minds LMAO

They brought Sphene back, the character that I hated the most out of all of this. Even better, they didn't bring back just one Sphene, they brought back ANOTHER one. So now there are 2 of the insufferable little twats.
While the potential plot point of the everykeep system acting on it's own to continue tardwranging the Alexandrians into their declining society can be interesting, I'm not okay with Sphene of all people being brought back for it. I suspect that Sphene's aid was partly responsible for what's going on as he was responsible for commisioning and distributing the back regulators and that little comment he made after his funeral address. We'll see if it goes anywhere or if the writers will continue to shit on any potential for a compelling storyline.

I need a drink.

Renewing sub and gonna skip the MSQ and try to do the new Alliance & FFXI raid content and all the alexandria raids i've been missing up until now.

Evil Spleen is obviously some distinct malicious entity that will use the Alexandrians to do some shady shit so I am somewhat okay with that (even though I hate the "someone is pretending to be someone else" trope, because it's almost always a waste of time), bringing back real Sphene was a mistake though. The whole point of this post msq story was how do you handle uncertainty and how finding your closure to move on is the best you can do. Giving real Sphene back will rob the Alexandrians from truly moving on if thats where they go with it.

apparently Prishe's VA is a troon, but i got this info from /vg/ and they didn't back it up with a source

Not to mention that during the MSQ for DT they made it seem like even attempting to keep just 1 endless going involved an obscene amount of resources, so I guess Hiroi forgot his own story points. Fuck it, just bring all the endless back since no one overseeing this mess can recall the plot.

From the way Evil Sphene came across I think she has zero motivation to actually turn them Endless and will just use the Alexandrians with the black ipads on their heads to do something
