Seems the webmail interface is down with 504 errors, at least for me. Haven't tried it with a client.
Might be coming back up, it went from a straight 504 to a popup "Connection to storage server failed."
It's back up. Sort of. It just got an email that was sent over two hours ago.

This is so weird. I just logged in to my account for the first time in 4 years about two weeks ago.

Well, this fucking sucks. Anyone know how strict protonmail are about multiple free accounts? I've used their service for years, so I'd honestly rather not get my main inboxes terminated because I had to make an inbox specifically for the HECKIN evil transphobic death squad HQ website.

It is a small niche indie email provider with funny top domains like "hatesje.ws" just like cock.li and just like cock.li it's not ever going to spy on you unlike those "privacy-oriented email providers" like protonmail.
PS: Not affiliated with the website, just thought I'd bring it up since cock.li might shut down soon and it's a perfect alternative without needing to go to those shady tor/onion email services.

I know nothing about IMAP because I don't use it, however, and it's going to shock you, but pissmail uses the exact same webmail service as cock.li, same interface, same everything.* So if cock.li supports IMAP, pissmail also does. I have no idea about the security, but I never expected either of them to be secure, I wouldn't be surprised if both of 'em had all the passwords unencrypted.
*Don't quote me if they changed it, I used almost exclusively cock.li as a burner email until today and noticed the similarities between it and pissmail when I signed up.

From the other perspective, even if you are able to keep the mail server running, there's no guarantee any of the big email providers will accept mail from your server. Even if you try to keep up with all the "validation" stuff like DMARC and SPF, you may get on a "do not trust" list that you can never be removed from.
Microsoft will receive one spam message and put you on a rate limit or total block that nobody can remove - the way you get off that list is by never letting your mail server send a spam message again. It's draconian and "secure" in the same way only using Google services is "secure".
