Furry Convention Drama - Because you can't have a couple thousand dog fucking enthusiasts under the same roof without shit hitting the fan

this is the second time @GeorgieWashingfur made claims of this nature with the only source is "Oh I just heard it from someone who alleges this" with the first time being of Nomad Complex earlier on in this thread if my memory serves. I don't think they're going to add much of value because it's all just "someone else claimed it with no source to back it up". I'd love to be proven wrong.

I see what you mean. I know a lot of furries in Southern Ontario, so if he posted who he heard it from or messaged me, I could verify it. Not sure if I could get proof, cuz furries hide their shit like the Catholic church, but still. The only social media Melancholy has is Telegram. If I get banned from the group, I will post the link to it. Don't want to blow my cover yet.

While the Kiwi Farms is a gossip forum, it is not an unsubstantiated rumor mill. There's a difference, and that difference is important to understand to get the most from the Farms.

Look through the threads, both here in Animal Control and elsewhere on the Farms. When someone posts something claiming that somebody did a thing, they bring reciepts: links, screenshots, archives. If someone posts a rumor that they can't verify, it is is usually described as such, and often only posted because it is plausible in the face of what confirmed evidence has already been posted.

Claiming "Trust me, bro," that someone is crying about becoming incontinent after shoving 2-liter soda bottles up their asshole regularly is boring. Bringing screenshots that show someone crying about being incontinent on twitter just two hours after they uploaded their latest video to ass-destruction.com is much funnier.

If you're going to claim someone did something crazy and stupid, bring receipts of their crazy stupidity. Often, when someone is acting crazy, the receipts stand on their own. Seldom is embellishment required to be funny.

Not particularly dramatic but worth documenting; Anthrocon will be implementing a few new policies for 2025.


Major points by Kage are:
  • Overall attendance/registration limit (final numbers TBD but not smaller than or significantly larger than 2024's attendance of 17,639)
  • Anthrocon will not be moving out of Pittsburgh
  • Complete registration system overhaul to decrease wait times to pick up badges. Thursday will be preregistered (prior to June 15) badge pickup only. No day of registration pickup available Thursday.
  • All hotel shuttles will be "fully wheelchair accessible" and a new contracted company will be running them
  • Overall reduction of size for the fursuit parade by requiring minimum standards to participate (2024's parade was 3,371 participants and was "out of hand")

This is gonna generate some great drama over time. You thought people missing out on con hotel rooms bitched a lot? Wait until the unprepared/lazy/unlucky miss out on registration for AC.

In some ways yes, in some ways no. It is for sure welcoming of the weirdos. But the hotel setup in the city is extremely poor, thus all the shuttle runs. They were supposed to get a second hotel tower in the convention center complex, but that got scuppered in the '08 crash, so they've always been a bit short.

Ironically if the cap impacts the local normie one-day attendees it might cause some of that goodwill to go away if nobody can get in.

They’re batshit insane, but they’re not stupid enough to cut off the source of their good will. They will ensure they have day passes available for the locals who are intrigued. But that’s also why they started the entire street-side spectacle — to give the city the opportunity to stare without having to pay for the convention.

Just because he's the ringleader of the freak show doesn't make him any less of a freak. That being said. Considering most anthrocon drama ends up being Kage forgave racist pedophiles like jasonafex too many times. It's the least freaky freakshow in the fandom. Because sadly most people forgave or even defended foxler, kero, jasonafex etc. Until they were deplatformed.

The problem is, people wanted their yiffs. As long as they were able to provide said yiffs at a stable rate the fandom didn't care as a whole. As soon as they had a month of no new yiff the allegations were taken seriously. It's sorta like how asmongold talked about Palworld. Nobody really cared that they didn't steal anything. They cared the game was fun.

Now, it turns out Nintendo proved that they in fact stole nothing. But let's not pretend it wouldn't have made tons of money if they did. Make a good enough product and people will let you get away with anything. But the second you fall off or have to take a break you'll find if you genuinely did bad shit people will make you pay for it.

Anyone who has interacted with Kage irl (which I have) will know he's just as weird as any other furry. I don't say that in a bad way, but if it weren't for his status and role he'd blend in perfectly.
