The three dark-blue precinct in the northeast there appear to be situated right on the Red Lake in Beltrami county. Interestingly, it voted for Kerry in 2004, Obama both times, then flipped to Trump in 2016 and 2020. Trump carried the county yet again this time around, but the three deep blue areas situated on the lake seem to be due to the fact Ponemah is located there, which is a sparsely populated unorganized territory that votes +95% Democrat.


As for the northeastern panhandle-like area, it seems to be a Democrat stronghold as well because I believe Native Americans belonging to the Ojibwe tribe live there, and usually Natives will vote Democrat.

That notwithstanding, nearly the entire rest of the state is red except for Minneapolis. It’s really interesting, actually, because if you compare the 2020 and 2024 maps, you can see the suburbs around Minneapolis shift from blue to red, and since Minnesota was a lot closer than expected overall this adds up. Trump outright won the suburbanite vote.

I will never understand the idea that Hillary would have somehow handled COVID any better. Trump said some dumb shit, but he generally did what his advisors recommended, even going so far as to shutting shit down. I don't know what the people who insist Trump was responsible for COVID expected Hillary to do differently during the first 6-8 months of the outbreak in the US. There was no playbook or precedent to follow. Everyone just generally made shit up on the fly every day.
