What is Billy basing his one-in-ten figure on? I can believe it’s one in ten if you include every single flavour of zero-effort genderspecial. But I also believe that once you get out of countries that celebrate genderspecial crap, that figure drops right down. Now okay, he argues that those people can’t express themselves, but I want to know how he knows they exist at all.
Basically this whole thing takes as its basis the idea that genderspecialness is innate, immutable and not a social contagion. Which is, at the very least, highly disputable.
One of the things that I often muse about:
1. Assuming that troonery is innate and
2. Assuming that troonery has stayed at the same level throughout space and time and
3. Assuming that troonery when not supported leads to le 41%, then
Where are all the dead trans kids from the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80, and 90s?
Powerlevel but my high school had zero suicides when I was there. There was a small suicide cluster a few years later (one of whom apparently jumped off the Golden Gate Bridge!), but my understanding is that pressure about grades and/or just not feeling like they fit in was the motivating factor for most of them.
I went to school with 1400 other kids, and if you assume 1% troonery (which is currently a low estimate) and le heckin 41%, then something like 5 or 6 kids should have committed suicide due to being trans when I was in school, but that didn't happen.
Fuck, if you assume 10% troonery, then you'd expect a suicide rate somewhere near 57 kids in 4 years!
But nope, we had zero suicides. Five drunk driving deaths, one medical crisis, and one ghetto murder, but no suicides.
I've never seen a serious takedown of this.
Probably because it's bullshit.
