The comments section is an odd one particularly the wednesday open thread, I'm convinced a lot of people subscribe simply to participate in it. Neither of them are listening to what people are saying, whoever 'Jessica the 80's baby' is, she' s no where as good as Trace at finding stories, also they never explained what happened to their other producer Lex.

In fairness Ben Kawaller was a decent cohost his article on how Matthew Shepperd actually died, was a genuniely great piece of journalism, also his Ben meets america series on YouTube is always funny. But other than him and Helen Lewis the rest of the cohosts were pretty poor and fucking enough about Katies dog sitter.

On multiple occassions Katie and Jessie have spoken about how hard it is to make a living as a writer, they have this gig that pays well and they're fucking it up.

Not going to lie, my fellow weirdos in the open thread were part of the "should I stay or should I go" calculus. It's cozy and full of people who are 95% over 35 (and probably half nearing or over 50) treating it like a web 1.0 off topic board. 5 bucks gets you decent podcasts and a relatively private place to post like it's 2002.

It's a good deal if that's what you're after, especially if you're a disaffected lib or centrist who can't handle somewhere as freewheeling as the Farms.

A 50 minute fight between them would be great. That Moose abuse exchange shows how fast their unscripted conversations can go south. She was a fairly workmanlike YA author that ended up getting cancelled circa George Floyd. The story of what happened in YA fiction around that time is kind of interesting and also pathetic. Barpod have touched on YA in the past and basically it's just a bunch of writers working for less than minimum wage while savaging each other on social media. Rosenfeld probably made the right choice in getting out while she could. As arguabley YA is even a sustainably genre of publishing.

Jesse on the other hand instead of using Kat to dig deep into what happened to YA. Instead just went for the most surface level takes followed by some retarded word games that were pre recorded.

Katie and Jesse both love money, and have gone into detail about their lifestyles. I just don't get why neither of them think that a Podcast that is easily pulling in $80k a month, isn't worth them putting in a solid days work.
