Are you lost needing femoid advice post here - For the poor bastard's who dare or are just curious

I'd also recommend claw clips since they do less damage to your hair. I use them exclusively. A good metal one can last for years.
I might take a look at those too. Are those similar to the tortoiseshell ones that everybody's mom had? The ones dumb guys as kids (me) would wear on their forearms and break (sorry, mom <3 )? I've also heard this too, that wearing ties too tightly will fuck up your hairline. I was paranoid about it for a while myself. I don't know if it can cause hairline issues, but I'd bet it can exacerbate them.

There's an adjustment period for basically all haircare. If something makes your hair greasy, for example, you should still stick with it for a while. Your scalp will sense the oiliness and gradually reduce sebum production. I basically don't ever shampoo my hair, I use cowash instead, and while it looked awful for the first month, that quickly passed and it started looking better than ever. And it's way less wear on the hair itself, which matters especially to me since I'm prematurely gray (or more accurately white).
Oh, keep some hairties on you too. You never know when you'll need one in a pinch. My old brush actually broke at the handle, and after using it for a while the teeth started to come out and it's finally time to go out and get one today. A hair tie will save you in a pinch when you can't comb your hair for some stupid reason like that.

Warning: bad hair day dox inside

Don't let this be you. Invest in a (sturdy) brush, and some ties in case you didn't bring it with you or it just fucking breaks. Long hair can look fine when you take care of it and wear it right, but when you fuck up and do it wrong boy do you really fuck up royal. You don't have those sort of problems with shorter cuts assuming you have a decent hairline.
You shouldn't be brushing curly hair, it causes split ends and knotting. Get a wide-toothed comb (which you only ever use on wet hair, ie in the shower, ideally while the hair is "lubricated", for example just after applying your shampoo or conditioner), and also use plopping rather than a towel to dry it off. Letting the hair slowly dry will keep the curls together better, which reduces frizz and keeps it healthier for longer. Trust me, I have really long curly hair and spend a lot of time keeping it looking perfect.

I actually just got home with two, and one was a wide-tooth. Usually when I'm drying it I just fluff it with the towel after I've gently wrung the better part of the water out of it, and I'll comb it after that. At least that's how I've always done it myself.

Same here. I like gray/white hair though, which I think is why I've just sort of gracefully accepted it. I've got a ton of gray underneath the brown hair. Had it since I was in my teens lol

Allow me to introduce you to the miracle that is leave-in conditioner+Wella Pearl Styler and plopping.

Would a compact wireless photo printer be a good Christmas gift for a teenage girl? She is 18 years old and will be graduating this spring. I figure she will want to make a lot of memories with her friends and having actual physical photos she can share and which her and her friends can all sign and write messages on would be a decent gift. It is battery powered so she can carry it anywhere in her bag, it has easy connect options for the iPhone I got her for her birthday. Plus the ink/paper cartridges are relatively cheap which would work out to about $0.30 a pic.

It’s a good idea, but if it were me I think an actual polaroid camera would be more fun. Less practical, but cooler. Bonus point if you find a vintage camera in good condition.

alrighty guys I need good scalp moisturizer.
Would you like some particular products recommended or just a general approach?
Oh, keep some hairties on you too.

Very real. Hair ties, much like portable batteries, are one of those things that you will only find yourself needing the ONE time you forget to take them with you.
Yes, ohmygod, also- you absolutely should buy the more expensive ones. The cheap hairties that are poorly glued in the middle will fail in the most unexpected situations. A silk scrunchie will do wonders

I have this one. I highly recommend it, I've been using it daily for 6 years at this point. This is the greatest hair brush I've ever had

I've definitely snapped a handful of them already for sure. I'll spend a little more on the next pack, I still have a couple dozen of them.

I wound up getting two of them not knowing what exactly I needed lol

particular products I am white female and slavic if it helps with recomendations
I'm preparing a list but before I post it I wanted to ask what problems do you have with your scalp? Asking because I have a dry scalp because of my eczema and use products recommended by my dermatologist. Not sure if you want them recommended as well

Sorry for double posting, but I have no idea how to edit my previous comment to add a quote to it
And it's so freaking painful when they break in your hands and hit you!
The one on the left looks quite similar to the one that I posted. How do you feel about the one on the right? I never had any luck with ones like these

Alright, I'm gonna post some of the stuff that I use but just keep in mind that I am polish and the names on the packaging in your country may differ
First of all- if your skin is dry I highly suggest using this face cream every day:

Shampoo recommended by my dermatologist:

You probably should use a scalp peeling from time to time, but not too often. This is mine:

You can skip oiling before washing and cover your scalp with aloe vera gel and keep it there for some time before washing. I'm using this brand:

I like to highlight the segment, hit 'reply' (it'll pop up in the box where you'd put a new reply), and cut/paste into my edit. It can sometimes be fussy about adding extra lines.

lol honestly working with my hands with hot irons and small metal shavings I'm sort of used to getting my hands fucked up. I think I prefer the one on the left, I really like it, but I think I'll prefer the one on the right after showers. Having a wider spread of teeth like the one on the left was really nice for how much volume I have in my hair, but I don't think it handles knots as well.

My dad gave my my own camcorder it was the best present ever so I lean towards the camera option.

You can find really good 2000s canon and Nikon reflex cameras as well as other simpler smaller camcorder models like 2000s Sanyo for quite cheap on eBay if you look well.

The latter are really good because although they don't offer RAW or don't have the most intricate manual settings, the predetermined ones work really well and the video quality and manual zoom is really good. And sturdy. I don't really know much about Polaroid cameras so I can't speak on those.

if she DOES take lots of iPhones photos though the printer might be a better choice, especially if she's more into the scrapbooking side of it or making albums or things like that.

either way it's a cool gift!

I've had that happen so many times :stress: Very true

Bit of a weird one for my fellow ladies.

Has anyone here had experience with Invisalign? Not sure what to expect, how annoying/hard to maintain is the permanent retainer wearing. (Have had braces, hated the retainer when I got them off)

Details/PL/Rationale:I had significant dental/orthodontic work done when I was 14-15 so all my teeth could fit in my mouth and stop literally shattering because there was not enough room for them. It's been almost 20 years, things have moved and I have some awkward gaps at my front teeth, causes me to impact/use two teeth only while eating, and those two front teeth are starting to thin, I can see this is happening, my dentist recommended this as a solution, but is not pressuring me.

I had invisalign, pretty bad crowding on my lower front teeth and it cost me a little over $3k. The maintenance isn't hard as long as you're not forgetful and lose them somewhere. IIRC you only need to wear the permanent retainer 24/7 for a couple months then you only need to wear them overnight.
