As for how to beat the "smart person" filter, I dunno. I've been summoned to jury duty three times, made it to voir dire each time, and been dismissed each time. It seemed like they preferred people who wanted to be anywhere but there, presumably because they want it over with and a crappy juror will rush where a thoughtful one wouldn't.

tl;dr: The Democrats are so butt blasted by their complete route in this election that they're going to create a fake version of Trump's cabinet so they can provide "alternative viewpoints." Apparently this Shadow Cabinet crap is popular in the UK. It's pure uncut Chicago brand crystal copium from the party of losers.

A shadow cabinet is actually pretty normal for parliamentary democracy.

The idea is that each minister has a shadow counterpart in the opposing coalition/minority that basically proposes how they can do better, or are responsible for grilling said minister during question time (not a thing in the states, I recall). Ostensibly, it serves as both a check on the governing party, and allow the opposing bench to gain some experience in the portfolio.

That said, I have no idea how would this even work in the US, because Congress conducts itself very differently to the Parliament.
