As a game it’s about average I’d say. Tilesets appear to be edited versions of the NES-style levels, enemies seem to be primarily repainted enemies pre-packaged with the engine. Chud’s new slide ability is pretty fun, the levels use it well for the most part. It is well-made for an amateur’s game albeit. Music choices are good as well.
The difficulty is where it messes up. The tutorial’s boss (weird chinese dude) is already a pain in the ass: even if his patterns are easily followable his hitbox is absurd and he has significantly more health than the player. Combine that with how little supplies you have and it becomes a pain in the ass.
The levels are designed well, most of them are challenging, sometimes annoying but mostly doable. Checkpoints are reasonably-placed, mostly. The bosses are interesting from a design standpoint but impossible to reasonably defeat with what you’re given. They have more health than you, frequent shields, AND you don’t have any access to E-tanks. The ones I’ve battled, Ukrainian and Norwegian, are insanely difficult. Ukrainian uses a tank which blocks charged shots, and the player has limited dodging space. Norwegian is constantly shielded and mainly spams black babies, some of which are nigh-undodgeable.
It would benefit from a shop system you can obtain E-tanks from but this is completely absent. Also too many of the opponents are random tranime characters, I feel these are wasted slots for what could be far funnier levels.
That is unfortunate but expected with how pozzed itchio is.
