I found this in the comment section of NML's latest livestream, what is wrong with this community and their hyper focus on beastility?
This behavior reminds me of the narratives you hear around Satanic Panic in the 80s (or pick your flavour of "witch hunt"). I've heard Group X is capable of or engages in Behavior Y. Individual x is a member of Group X and is therefore capable of or engages in behavior Y. See blood libel, Protestant/Catholic horror stories about one another, etc.
There is also this business in Gorl World whereby thought is equated to deed; that is, if you've experienced/expressed the thought, you've likely done the deed or intend to -- otherwise, why would you have the thought? A decent person wouldn't have the thought. So you get Ron's "mental pedophiles" philosophy (subsequently adopted by Yaba and Sam). Or you get Salah's admittedly gross (and profoundly odd... stunted?) alleged sexual fantasies. Bc of those fantasies, he's capable of anything. And if he's capable of anything, he's done at least one of those things.
I'd say it's Puritanical, but it's not quite. A consequence of sexual frustration (something like the Loudun nuns)/sexual repression/a loose uterus? Bc the reactors are a very odd group. On the one hand, they're all having better sex than Chantal (and more of it!); on the other hand, they all get so squeamish on the topic, unless they're using sex as a joke/insult/one-up (Yaba's beloved phrase "nose to puss" springs to mind).
Many of the men either turn out to be abusive perverts (Moody, Monty) or purse-puppy-eunuchs (the "nice" gay men, the cuddly heterosexuals). The women either read asexual (Milk Tea, Just Sayin', Charlie Go'd) or over time -- however much they may have
talked about all the great sex they have -- become functionally asexual ( Yaba and Sam and their car-wreck hickies, FFG reverse cow-girlin' over the man who was never there). Deviating from this means you're a predator, which (now) means you're probably a pedophile, and at that point, you're capable of anything. Which means you've done everything. All that's left to do is imagine what all you've done.
There's something almost child-like in the way reactors and their communities jump to bizarre conclusion, which is also why I'm reminded of the Satanic Panic. A mix of testimony from people who had no reason to lie (a good Catholic housewife, tabula rosa babes in daycare centers, etc.), so what they must have stated is the truth. Next thing you know, at least 10% of Canadians ought to be missing a finger, bc they offered it to Satan in a suburban cemetery in Vancouver (
Michelle Remembers -- personal fave). Or the children participated in the ritual sacrifice of a fellow child (McMartin, I believe). Or were carried away via hot air balloon or through tunnels.
I'd hate to think what the reaction community would come up with were any of them actually religious.
