This was part of the "America the Beautiful" bullion series that started coming out ten years ago. You've probably seen the quarters; the bullion coins are 5 ounces, 3 inches in diameter and an eighth of an inch thick.
The next is two firsts.

First, it is the first modern commemorative silver coin. They were common at one point, then the ideas become more stale until Eisenhower killed it. They brought them back for a special occasion - the 250th anniversary of George Washington's birth, in 1982.

Second, this was my first silver coin. We all start somewhere.
I normally only ever buy bars from my dealer from their box they dump bars into that they buy off other people so I don't really ever get any kind of neat designs and don't care about designs at all and buy purely for mass.Bought on the dip.
