Sweet Baby Inc. and the Steam Curator Group Conspiracy - The company that is responsible for the diarrheic video game writing.

It made it worse and made sure it stayed on that trajectory
It is impossible to know that because we'll never know what the timeline would look like if GG never happened. The trajectory was decided before GamerGate started, and it's continued to get worse because the western industry is no longer motivated by creating art or good games.

I dunno what your ultimate point is though: that it's pointless to even try standing up against this stuff? Where's that guy who was calling everyone a doomposter a few pages back...
GG1 was not even customer pushback but reader pushback. Readers fought against the journos and those that paid them for good reviews.
It was a bit of both. The problem with paid reviews was a bone of contention long before GG started, what really kicked it off wasn't just the obvious shill reviews but what they were choosing to review.

There is no world where Depression Quest and Zoe Quinn deserved any attention, your average NewGrounds shitposter is a more competent dev, so the fact she was being lifted up as this amazing person with her dogshit fake games was the straw that broke the camel's back. Especially when all the journos circled the wagons after it came out what an abusive toxic piece of shit she is.

How?
Isn't staying on that trajectory more thanks to personnel who actually work on this racket?

Are you going to say that slight customer pushback filled them with righteous soy rage which lead to development of Suicide Squad or Concord, for example?

This logic is fucked. You are basically saying don't even protest something bad or the protesting WILL make it worse????

Call me crazy but I think at worst shit like concord going broke is better than just consuming the latest slop without question.
Sorry, but you’re both turbo virgin retards and you can’t argue with the science.

Gamergate wouldn't have changed the trajectory of the industry itself, in my opinion, but it has absolutely changed the discourse surrounding gaming for the better.
Look at where the discussion on video games is being had; the majority of it is being done in online spaces and around independent content creators on social media. How many people genuinely give a fuck about gaming journalists & news outlets nowadays? Nobody but the most terminally retarded takes them seriously anymore, and everyone else can see through their bullshit & openly call it out online. I don't think you'd be seeing that to the level it is today if GG never took off.

What are the odds there actually was a video game illuminati that's to blame for recent western releases being so shitty? Jeez, this would've sounded insane 3 years ago.

Fucking how? Without zero pushback it would have just been considered tacit acceptance. At best you could argue that peak "woke" would have been reached earlier since there would be no need to own to chuds so all games could just be Life is Strange.

Well, to be fair, I do believe he is (dare I say it) British. Their standard approach to things going to shit is putting a stiff upper lip and taking it.

True but in GG1, the ire was mainly aimed at the journos while the devs were only talked about when they were speaking against the gamers. In GG2 the devs and publishers are the main targets while the journos go broke as no one cares for them anymore due to the fallout of GG1.

One of the things that happened in GG1 was you found out that a lot of the big game companies did in fact support the people at Polygon, Kotaku and the rest. They agreed that games were sexist, racist, homophobic and transphobic and needed to "do better." The fact that the consumer action side of GamerGate didn't manage to kill very many of the game journo sites (even though it did cost them a lot of money when Disrespectful Nod was active) makes a lot of people chalk it up as a failure. That wasn't the only side of GamerGate though, it was arguably a lot more successful as an information exchange. That part of GG1 continued to the current day.

Those sites have lived on for years because autistic gamers click on their bait articles to have a furious hate wank over them.

All we had to do was not click on their sites and not buy their games but most gamers are braindead consumers and couldn’t even manage to do that.

Sperging at the women and trannies made them bulletproof and the only reason the wheels are fall off now is the industry made itself bloated whilst high off the smell of their own farts. If we weren’t on the verge of a global economic crisis people would still be buying these slop games.

What does getting laid have to do with starting a movement?
methinks this user doth protest too much.
Don't bother.

Fed straight up called me an Incel before.

They're one of those "It meant nothing" types because as @Hooked on phobics said "Because it didn't immediately stomp out Games Journalism, it's a failure"
