I know im late for the party but if Null still looking for a logo for Internet preservation society im willing to throw my couple of cents
Heres a couple scketches that i threw on.
Still need to figured out the exactly pose before i will go digital.
Not sure that Sisyphys is the best choice for the logo since its not gonna look good in small sizes.
Personaly i think that Atlas theme is more fitting and will be more in spirit of the movement.
Tell me guys what you think

The third one is definitely the best though i like the idea of the first one as it represents the eternal battle of data preservation and censorship

1st on is straight up redraw of the meme
3rd one is based on one of the already existing picture of atlas
Heres my spin in more detailed version to just kind of get idea across
Ignore hands, i know they sucki would need a bit more time to figured out the exact position

i, for one, think you're gay. Atlas and Sisyphus are allegories for different things and unless you want to come off as arrogant in the branding (Atlas), you'll want something a bit more subdued in substance (Sisyphus) because Josh, Hardin & Co. - despite their undeniable accomplishments and remarkable stubbornness - are not what you would compare to Atlas - the titan that holds up the goddamn sky.

no offense

utilizing a few badly drawn sketches i have portrayed what i believe null is referring to,

I think what he wants is a 2d image with little to no overlapping elements, as you can see in the attached image the line where the boulder meets is at his back which would create a simplified picture that works better as a logo than an actual image.
more clarification: the 2.5d image you are creating is too detailed with its sense of depth, in logos depth is really only used in terms of shading with color. a traditional logo would only be a few colors as to make it simple and thus recognizable at a short glance.

Registered after 5 years of lurking to try and help you artfags. Do you not into holy geometry lines and symbology???

Here is my concept not for necessarily what is best for his logo but to help you people figure out HOW to make an egraving logo that has MEANING and PASSION. (I even learned how to insert thumbnails just for this)

Dude the problem is to created a silhouette that would be a recognizable as a logo while keeping anatonomy intact.
And trust me i fucked with the mannequin for over 2 hours to figure out the way so body parts dont overlap too much.
As for thumbnails its simply way easier to snap a photo dirrectly into the site.

Hey, I think that one could translate into 2D well. It is juuuust out of profile enough to give it a sense of depth but could be done in an older 1800's America style engraving with a proper profile svg'able form... the angles are pleasing and it seems to be in motion but frozen in time.

If Jersh ever gets a logo he likes I can make some small-batch minted Silver (Cu/Al/Zn if desired as giftable non-monetary tokens since giving out Ag may be seen as a financial transaction instead of acceptable legal advocacy) coins as an offering to the charity. I won't post my irl coining business but the beauty of the boulder pushing and the charity's goal is inspiring and worth supporting.

Maybe if i try to make into a vector image i can do something about that
Edit:

Maybe simple outlining instead of filling?

I remember Jersh trying to describe the art style he wanted for his logo and I couldn't quite place it based on his descriptions, but there is a big chance that WHATEVER the style he wanted, at some point, was on US currency or used as the basis of a relief used on medallions/commemorative coins. I have attached some samples from various time periods that I consider the peak(s) of numismatic achievement. They might include what he was hoping for. Also a link to one of the better decades on Wikipedia - but there are a LOT more to see - the thumbnails are two of my favorites.
