When and where did having specialty factories to shit this garbage out and maintaining entire fleets of supply lines for additives and elaborate mouse trap ass logistics lanes to make frankenfood with 30 ingredients somehow become a savings over making them with 6 without some sort of insidious background rules lawyering fucking meddling? Ditto with having to go from "separate it and package it done deal make money" for something as basic as heavy cream to having to have a whole other industrial process and factory in the middle to add gums and thickeners to it before it goes into a package.

The backdoor grift goes deep when adding steps and ingredients is somehow making money and not losing it.

Like sure whatever you can get big deals on diglobinbussinate and god fuck knows what else but really what the actual fuck happened over thirty years that made it hunky fucking dory to our country to feed people what is at best only marginally better than china's faked meat and gutter oil when it comes to adulterated food products? The FDA was established on the cusp of the 1900s to keep pencil shavings out of pepper and chalk and boric acid out of milk and now we've been mandating that adulterated foods are the default and not the thing to be avoided in the first place.

What could Putin concede which will look good to media-addled Americans whilst not abandoning pro-Russian people to Galacian death squads?

That was my original thinking and they will attack him for being "weak", "Russian agent", "pro-Putin" and all the rest. But I've been heartened by seeing his camp pro-actively taking measures against that. His son has been tweeting out about Biden throwing as much money as possible out of the country before it's stopped, they've been highlighting "180 billion dollar war". Signs point to the Trump administration just deciding to weather the storm of criticism. They're banking on the electorate being smart enough to see the ploy for what it is and either (a) realising that in many ways the West provoked this situation or, more realistically (b) that they just don't want to give away such vast sums of money over Ukraine. Half the people of which are Russian anyway. It was a civil war long before Russia invaded on one side.

But as to what Russia could concede? That's an interesting question. On the one hand they haven't yet secured the breakaway oblasts and in the case of Kherson, aren't close to doing so. Note, I disagree somewhat with @draggs about the glacial page - it's like arm wrestling, the big effort and slow change is at the start. Once one side really starts to go it picks up pace. We can't really have a great idea of who is "winning" without casualty numbers which both sides naturally concede. But despite some pushback in Toretz and Russia deciding to hold off on Pokrovsk just yet, it's fairly obvious Russia is winning. Keeping this on topic for US politics what does this mean? Well, Russia's goals aren't really territorial. It has resources, land and people in abundance. Its interest is in its national security. The "concessions" it could give Trump would be to agree some kind of neutral independence for Donetsk and Luhansk which is what kicked this off in the first place. To Russia that's not really a concession but to the Western public who can't conceive of war in anything other than attempts to grab land, it'd play just fine. Trump's problem is the inherited one of why Russia should trust his word? I remember an interview with Duterte of the Phillipines saying "when I make a deal with China I can trust it because the same people who are in control of China yesterday are in control of China tomorrow. When I make a deal with America four years later that deal is no good. So I deal with China."

The one thing that reassures me is that Trump is visibly attacking Biden's pro-War stance and banking on the American people to be as skeptical or self-interested as he is. And this might be a little rainbows but with trust in the MSM at an all-time low, I think he's right.

Because that pizza barely lasts long enough for the waiter to take it 20 feet from the oven to your table. Those additives are mostly preservatives designed to make the food last longer, not to (directly) save money. That's also why you only find them in shelf-stable products and not in the 90% of the grocery store which is fresh foods.
