Suddenly the non-practicing Lawyer-vetted plan to admit to several crimes live on air does not sound so smart anymore to Fatrick.
After getting slapped with what I assume is a C&D and a TRO to remove all content involving Aaron's daughter, he really thought he could just go after Aaron himself with some guidance from the cokehead.

I really really hope he does not get away with just some diversion plan and a hefty fine and never does any time. Just 6 months to "scare him straight" with another 3 years waiting if he fucks up again, that sounds amazing. Good comedic material too, for everyone else.

This isn't an episode of Law & Order. The authorities have allegations of wrongdoing. Whether charges are eventually filed will depend on what evidence is found to support those allegations. We don't know what requests have already been made behind the scenes but tech companies receive a huge amount of requests for records on a daily basis and they don't move quickly to respond in cases which aren't a matter of life or death.

Melton isn't in MN's jurisdiction so that adds an additional layer to investigating his part in this.

There is a process that has to be followed.
Accusation=>Investigation=>Charges

This whole conspiracy orchestrated by Nick to take revenge on Aaron is little bigger than just one greasy ethical-CP-enjoyer in Las Vegas. He was the instrument, but he was not the brain behind it. I would expect him to be visited, politely asked to hand over devices, interviewed and kindly suggested to flip on Nick and spill everything, which a lawyer will advise him to do in return for a favorable deal, and then he will disappear from the equation.

Seizing Melton's devices may not even be necessary to prove that Nick shared Aaron's data with him. People want to see it happen mostly because they're convinced that illegal content will be found on Melton's devices.

It would depend on how quickly they want to move on Nick and how quickly software companies respond to warrant requests. If say, discord had a longer turnaround time for their records than the PD liked, they could absolutely go “Hey Vegas, could you interview this dude and aak him to cooperate? We need a cellebrite dump for X,Y, and Z”

If Melton does have nasty stuff on his devices, he better hope those discord furries have their shit together

People are far too candid on social media with anyone who appears to share their interests and the minute they feel like they "know" people they throw caution to the wind and treat their little groups like they are having private conversations with ride or die friends. Discord is a terrible platform to use if you care about opsec and there is no way the furries have their shit together.
