Final Fantasy XIV - Kiwi Free Company

Unrelated to the current discussion, but is anyone else having difficulty giving half a shit about the pelupelu beast tribe quests? I typically have no issue getting invested into these storylines, especially the Loporrit's from EW, but I just do not care about these south american jews and their money-making schemes. Especially when it is a thinly veiled attempt to shove more Hanuhanu nonsense down our throats in the name of profitable tourism.
Your exactly right, I'm a easy customer for most plots and I am hard pressed to think of any storybeats I outright hated until Dawntrail, but somehow Square Enix did it and made me start hating every stupid little thing.

How am I suppose to belive the Pelupelu haven't already done their tourism shit already in every major section of the continent already? And what to hell am I a forgeiner gonna teach them that the literal masters of business and travel haven't already learned from a major port city in a metropolis like the capital city?

All the other Beast Tribes quests made sense even if some were stupid, it was usually a small group or someone in over their heads needing a helping hand from some mute altruistic psychopath like the player. This Pelupelu Peru Jew has enough investment capital and support from the governments biggest supporters but he needs us to do busy work for him? Really?

I want to make a bar at the end of the universe again or have an epic bird dance off to avoid a war. How have they fagged up something this easy

Ffs I’ve seen people excuse Hermes for his awful crimes because he is brown and depressed and to them a poor uwu baby being oppressed by his society.
Is Hermes even brown? He always looked white to me.
the way he massively overenunciates TOOLI-HYOLLAL like a faggy lib pretending to be wise in the ways of the Latinxes is a running gag in my static.
Holy shit that still pisses me off. The fact that everyone else says it normally but he tries to speak like a HECCIN LATINX despite being from Kentucky….

Literally the only beast tribe I've stopped working on. Which is a shame, I've really enjoyed all the prior beast tribe questlines. Amal'ja and Lopporit especially.

Aren't they called "Allied society" or whatever these days?
Lol, the rot was evident from the start.

I have no interest in the Pelupelu tribe quests because they're apparently a combat class series of quests and I was hoping for either the crafter or gatherer series first so I could have a lazy way to finish grinding out my levels.
Just do leve quests or Grand Company turn ins.

He’s tan skinned and darker than the other Ancients but not Ala Mhigo level brown. Though to XIV fans that’s brown enough to excuse his actions as well as harass artists if they don’t make his skin color dark enough in their art (actually saw an artist a few years ago get harassed for this to the point where they made a revised version of their art with the “correct“ skin color for Hermes and yet the mob still refused to forgive them.)

Same here. When it comes to video game plots especially for mmorpgs the writing has to be really offensively bad for me to hate it. Prior to DT I never felt that way towards the msq even at its lowest points. There were always enough good points to outweigh the bad, enough likable characters and good story beats where I can overlook dumber writing decisions if they were enjoyable enough. Unfortunately this does not apply to Dawntrail. In fact I didn’t even bother unlocking the Pelu quests because my interest in the msq is pretty much shot. Also they’re combat based and not crafting or gathering based so I don’t really feel invested in the plot enough to unlock them to level any new classes.

The retard fish (Namazu) quests were kino, I won't lie. Something endearing about them trying to mimick civilization despite knowing nothing of how it ticks. Also their theme slaps.

For any Astrologians here. Is Astro good now or is it still a mess to balance? Kinda interested in the class and i wanna know if its worthto commit to it or not.

Not to mention that the quests you got for increasing your reputation were pretty fun.
The cut scenes that would explain about the random stuff you and they were doing that somehow prevented some future disaster that would have wiped them out was entertaining

It doesn't have as much RNG hell with cards anymore, and its aoe recently got buffed to 8y from 5y.

It's the same. Insanely overloaded oGCD kit of which you will only ever use 2 or 3 at most unless you're doing ultimate. Balance-wise it brings nothing unique enough to note to a party (just like the other healers) you can clear with any healer set up.
If you're refering to the actual gameplay of the job it's identical to all other healers currently. You press 1 until you press 2 every 30 seconds. Only now there are no cards to play with since it was too hard for the limsa trannies. Instead you get worse single target versions of already existing healing cooldowns every two minutes in the form of "cards", they are so useless they quite literally go unused 90% of the time, only pressing draw every minute to get MP besides the one dps card which you hold for the 2 minute window anyways.
Pick it up if you want to play WHM but prefer pretty star vfx over pretty light vfx when you mash 1-1-1-1-1-1 for 99% of the fight.

They even put a preachy in-character "archivist's note" in the Encyclopaedia Eorzea II lore book about how oppressed the beast tribes are and how we shouldn't call them that anymore, despite its frequent usage in volume I.
That note is kinda funny because it reads like "The whole 'beast tribes' thing is just jew lalafel propaganda so we're ignoring it"

I like how in all their efforts to be faggy and progressive they still hit Lalafels with stereotypical desert merchant proclivities that you can apply to either jews or arabs

Slightly off topic, shit like this is why Ul'Dah is my favorite Eorzean nation. The game (at least earlier) didn't shy away from letting them have all kinds of sleaze and negative aspects that you just don't see in the writing for Gridania or Limsa in the same way. It makes for a way more compelling setting for storylines.

Which is wild considering Limsa is literally a nation of criminals. They just didn't flesh out the setting to the same extent as Ul'Dah. Merlwyb may be the pirate queen but she always does the right thing in the end even if it disadvantages her country which is super dull.

ARR/HW era Gridania had a few plot threads going about how they loath outsiders and are constantly scared the trees will eat them if they say/do the wrong thing. It's really irritating that those plot threads were dropped during SB because based on in game lore, Gridania should have refused to help liberate Ala Mhigo because the mhiggers just kept invading them over and over until they got curb stomped by Garlemald.

As far as Limsa goes, they addressed bits and pieces of the whole pirate nation thing in various side quests where they transition to a boring merchant marine nation which sucks. It would have been way more interesting if Dawntrail was more about the Limsan pirates going "Well we can't sack the Garlean ships/settlements anymore, time to sack the new world instead because no one gives a fuck about them"
