Sony hate thread

Reminder that Kadokawa is also one of the largest conglomerates in Japan, with a lot of anime, manga, books, video games, and even websites to their name (like Niconico), so if this goes through (likely will), be prepared for a massive Westernwashing of Japan's culture.

We rather sellout sony rather give people bloodborne for pc.
considering how sony has gone all in on pc ports (even the shitty ones like predator got one), i bet the second the sale goes though, the sony executives will tell them to port it.
they may be a shitty company, but they're smart and know damn well people will buy it regardless.
why wouldn't you sell a game twice, one that's on your platform where you have full control, and one a few years later on one you don't but the hype of the first one generates just as much sales and money as the first.
it's a fucking genius business strategy.

Which is why I doubt it will just go through. Disney bought Fox and they were told to sell a lot of shit. Same thing happened with MS and ABK. This is not the first time Sony tries to devour so much of an industry. They did this with anime, manga and games before. Sony will be told to sell some stuff if Japan lets them do it at all. They do not allow foreign companies to acquire Japanese ones so easily if the attempts to buy Nintendo are anything to go by. They might be allowed to do it but it will not be easy.

Truth be told, Sony is still headquartered in Japan but with its heavy influence in American business since the 1980s, its definitely more or less members from that side more interested in buying up Kadokawa. I also notice they only go with "parent of Elden Ring's developer" in the headlines, not "Japanese conglomerate Kadokawa", to downplay just how fucking huge of a threat this really is.

I wonder, what are the anti-monopoly laws in Japan like? The sale will have to be approved by many countries but still. Also, the gaming arm of Sony is in the US and Sony is acting like they are American for a while now so merely being technically in Japan will be irrelevant in the eyes of a lot of people that will be approving or disapproving this sale. They are dealing with Americans in their eyes.

I'm kinda surprised Sony can even afford Kadokawa. It's a bit player overseas but Kadokawa is retardedly massive in Japan. Corporate acquisition has become much more popular in Japan because the government and banks are tired of bailing out the keiretsu every time the economy gets a cold so I wouldn't be surprised if they just wave this one through.

JP twitter doesn't seem very happy about it

I mean if recent Sony acquisitions are anything to go by, Sony will spend a shitload of money, acquire a bunch of IP, layoff half the workers, and then ultimately do nothing with the acquisition other maybe sticking Sword Art Online characters in Astro Bot 2.

Devil's advocate position - forcing a significant chunk of Japan's creative class out of the kadokawa dungeons via Sony-induced layoffs might be a net-positive in the long-run.

To be quite honest I was hoping Kadokawa would find a way to purchase Square Enix and turn that turd around. Not the news I want but Sony also owns Aniplex and they produce good stuff.

I'm more concerned Sony would fuck up their production of Gravure... I really rather like BLT magazines/mooks

Let's not pretend From Software didn't put Body Type A and B into their game.
Is that in the Japanese version or was that the doing of localizers, because Lord knows there were a lot of poor translations in Elden Ring. Genuine question. I've been trying to get a satisfactory answer for two years.

On the other hand, if they either lay off, fire, or force those said Japanese creative class members to quit, to replace them with Westerners, or even God forbid with Pajeets, Haitians, Venezuelans, or other foreign labor to do it cheaper, as well as Western washing Japanese media, will be a massive shitstorm.

It also sounds like this move from Sony was done because they were anticipating Kamala Harris winning the election to write wokeness into the Constitution to begin attempts on erasing Japanese culture, but since she didn't win, Sony's still going to do it out of spite.
