The gameplay is dice rolls. That's it. You choose perks that up your dice rolls. Its the most basic of mechanics that has been around since the dawn of time. Its just less obscured the fact its dice rolls, that at the same time are complicated by a variety of dozens of things that factor into different roll types. The only thing it has going for it is the art style and story in terms of uniqueness. It's a pretentious game for pseudo-intellectuals, nothing more. I have also never seen anyone talk about the gameplay, which is telling.
Games good and written funny as fuck sometimes, even if the creators are schizo commies their old gaurd commie in the game hates fags and whoresI haven't played Disco Elysium simply based on that picture and them thanking Marx and Engels at the VGAs. I know separate art from artist and no double some people think it's writing is as good as Planescape:Torment. But when I see #Stalin there, that tells me all I need to know about the creators and what sort of game they created.
Ironically, the studio being taken over in a coup, then 3 other studios being founded with their "our Disco Elysium sequel is the real one" is quite a metaphor for what happened in communist Russia.
Yeah theres a bit in the game about a super ambitious team of people making an AWESOME game and its self fellating. Im not surprised they are narcs who peaked already. The gameplay is dice rolls. The best part about Disco Elysium is that it shows how retarded they all are. They barely got this game out and it all fell apart after. Their studio eaten and instead of banding together, much like all commies, they ate each other alive and now formed like 8 different studios trying to make the magic happen again. It will never happen for any of them. They all believe themselves to be the reason something succeeded not the collective effort - ironic enough coming from communists.
That's kind of hilarious because after a debut like this you'd practically be guaranteed free funding for your next project even if it involved some gay exclusive deal from Epic or something. All you'd have to do is not tard out.The best part about Disco Elysium is that it shows how retarded they all are. They barely got this game out and it all fell apart after. Or the people who bought it just to trade it in to prove a point. We're living in an age of whales and "spite buyers" who will get several copies of an unpopular game to own the chuds.
An almost insurmountable hurdle. All you'd have to do is not tard out.
I think it's considered a hybrid and because of the docked mode you can't technically call it a handheld just because it has a handheld mode.wouldn't the Switch count as a handheld?
I wonder if it's similar to Apple's business model where they sell less but charge so much more that it balances out. 15% market share isn't so bad when your cheapest laptop costs $750.What surprises me the most is that VR/AR is actually making a killing. How the fuck has that fad not died out already?
Is this actually a thing? I can see a couple people doing this for Reddit karma but given the performance of most of the DEI slop the alphabet people cape so hard for it doesn't seem like they actually put their money where their mouth is."spite buyers" who will get several copies of an unpopular game to own the chuds.
I actually think VR technology should be more focused on arcade experiences like https://www.thevoid.com/ because I think it's going to be hard to get people to invest in the technology for their homes unless there are some killer apps for it. However, I could see going to a VR arcade once in a while just to try it. Once the VR arcade experience is around for a while, there will be some games that will become popular and that they might want to bring home.I have played a lot of VR games and the first thing that I will tell anyone is that the experience of playing VR just doesn't translate over on video. The big thing VR has going for it is that the actions you do in real life "translate" better into the game world, they are no longer approximated through a keyboard and mouse.
You still have controllers, but often you are required to move your hands, body, etc, along with a button on the controller to make something in-game happen. As an example; You are no longer pressing R to reload, you are physically Mimicking yourself reloading in real life, which translates to you reloading in the game. It's interactions like that which makes VR special, but it's also extremely hard to "show" with videos as well,
Half life alyx takes full advantage of this in its gameplay, and it's what makes it unique from the other games. I feel like if you played a complete remake of this game on flat screen you'd just feel like you're playing a simplified half life 2.
Its one of the biggest reasons why I think VR hasn't really "gone mainstream", it's really hard to sell someone on something they don't understand, but there's a whole host of reasons why I don't think VR is as successful as people hoped it would be. Meta, for one, needs to utterly kill itself completely and foreverly, that would be good. not to mention the physical energy investment compared to regular entertainment mediums, also the general cost to enter, Motion sickness concerns as well. I'm sure there's others im forgetting.
Some of this can be mitigated if not solved outright in the future, but some of these are just inherent issues with the medium as a whole.
The famous "bisexual lighting" that's a dead giveaway.I like how all these wank games give you a clue with the box art, it's quite nice of them really, if the colours on the cover are that disgusting purple/pink combo stay away.
I appreciate that.
How many whales do you need to counteract apathy of millions? This is why "voting with your wallet" doesn't work. We're living in an age of whales and "spite buyers" who will get several copies of an unpopular game to own the chuds. Piracy should be considered the default option, if you can't pirate it then it's not worth playing. Simple as that, and you get all the bullshit DLC that way as well most of the time.
I noticed this too. Or their UI is overly purple / pink too.I like how all these wank games give you a clue with the box art, it's quite nice of them really, if the colours on the cover are that disgusting purple/pink combo stay away.

I feel that way about the PS4. Especially since most of the game discs act as a DRM license and aren't actually on the disc, so I wonder how useless it'll be down the line once the servers shut down. Makes me regret having one, especially since the console isn't backwards compatible and you can barely play DVDs on it, but for some reason CDs won't (probably to focus on digital music streaming/purchases) play at all.My only real fear (fear is a bit strong...concern?) in this regard is that one day my hardware is going to fail and I won't be able to play my massive physical collection of old good games any more. I already have a gigantic PS3 library that's basically useless because I'd rather shit in my hands and clap than fire up the PS3 again.

It's like those poisonous frogs. The bright colors are a neon "STAY THE FUCK AWAY" sign.I noticed this too. Or their UI is overly purple / pink too.
They really love using the most off putting colors imaginable.
Just a few whales are good enough to keep entire games running. Of course, they are usually mobile gatcha shit or something similarly low-rent, but just a few more whales could easily keep a AAA game running for a little while. You have no idea how much disposable income these retards have, and they are willing to go into debt or put someone else in debt to get more. How many whales do you need to counteract apathy of millions?
This delicious irony will never get old. This was mentioned as far back as when neon hair started to become relevant with SJWs in the early 2010s.It's like those poisonous frogs. The bright colors are a neon "STAY THE FUCK AWAY" sign.
Montezuma's Return filled that niche more than 25 years ago.A bit of a PSA for the upcoming Indiana Jones game. I heard someone try to defend the game as they wanted an Indiana Jones FPS for a long time. There's a game called Deadfall Adventures on Steam. It's a mediocre FPS where you play as Quatermain. You shoot nazis, raid tombs, dodge traps, and fight supernatural enemies. It might be forgetably average, but it's the Indiana Jones FPS people claim to want.
I find very ironic and funny that a game development studio from Estonia, a nation that has a very turbulent history with communism while they were under the rule of the Soviets, would make a game that, a lot of people, find sympathetic to communism together with the devs thanking Marx and Engels at the VGAs. This plus the collapse of studio and the subsequent infighting leads me to believe that if these people lived during the Stalin era/Cold War they would have ratted out their neighbors to the NKVD/KGB for wrongthink/petty bullshit and would feel proud about it.The best part about Disco Elysium is that it shows how retarded they all are. I've been looking forward to the Indiana Jones game for some time because I suspect it's going to be another colossal fuck-up for Microsoft.A bit of a PSA for the upcoming Indiana Jones game.
