The country I currently reside in has a tradition of late night bakeries (like Greggs, but local and open after the pubs shut.) you can buy a pie with that filling as a snack. And the best thing about it? The pie is deep fried.
And still I dont see people this fat around town. In a country that pioneered the deep fried mars bar, and has alcohol abuse and chips as a national sport.

Yeah because the whole point she's saying of meeting "factory minimums" is bullshit. It costs more to make fat clothes than normal clothes because fat folk aren't buying them.

So logically they should be selling these size 18 leggings for more because less fatasses are buying them meaning the store actually loses money as they take up space and the one or two landwhales that actually wear them aren't able to subsidize the entire line. Making everything the same price only benefits fat folk.

The biggest (not trying to be ironic here) with plus sized clothing for the extra plus folks is that people under size 16 or so usually go out in the hips, in at the waist and out in the boobs. You can’t call yourself ‘curvy’ If you don’t curve anywhere. There are generally variations but that’s how it works. Super chubby humans are not evenly distributed with fat, how many giant asses are a consistent shape, some spread wide sideways and others stack up like giant pears. Some fats have dangling boobs, some have giant guts and no boobs. How do you manufacture clothing for the wide variety of lumps and bumps and give it a size tag?

Brandy Melville (the "pro ana", secretive founder, anti-woke, "is so mean only skinny girls can wear their stuff) one-size only brand, apparently the clothes don't run so small anymore. If this is true I'm sure it's just a money grab lol. They built up their reputation as being so exclusive and only cool girls can wear it, and now you, too, can wear the clothes.

But this woman mostly wore loose-fitting sweaters as skin-tight things, and very obviously was stretching those little shirts to their limit. I would be shocked if she hadn't actually damaged/permanently stretched at least one item she tried on.

She also responds to "petite people need clothes too" with "plus size people need clothes too!" It's not the same. People don't choose to be 4ft11 the same way you have to put in some effort to be a 300lbs sheboon.

It's obviously a weird space full of anorexics and humble-bragging, but I do feel for the "XXS" community and its reddit, for the people/women who need a Small to actually be small.

How do you manufacture clothing for the wide variety of lumps and bumps and give it a size tag?

You can’t. I sew, and I’m seeing more and more patterns for the very large, but they are almost always a separate pattern set. You can only grade up or down within a proportionate set of sizes. So for example is you have a pattern and you want it to be for newborn to 16, you’d likely have 0-2 years, then the proportions change a lot so you’d then have 2-7 or so then 7-12 and after that it tends to go in height. Patterns for tween to teen are actually quite hard to find becasue of this - a twelve year old could be a skinny as a rail boy or have a fairly curvy figure as a girl. But you can’t size up a baby pattern to fit a five year old, unless it’s a simple thing like a hat.
When you size out of the regular sizes, people put fat on in all sorts of odd places and you’re really just creating a draped structure big enough to accommodate the widest part of them.
Indie Designers are trying pretty hard to do this, and doing a good job IMO (free market should adjust right?) but all I see is whining and complaints that not every pattern fits every size. In knitting you hear complaints that it costs a lot in yarn, and then they start getting so entitled they demand cut price yarn packs as well.

Stretch knit fabrics and a lack of seams and tailoring go a long way to fit a variety of lumps and bumps.

That is why mass market clothing is so blocky (for lack of a better term) these days and why most of it is made from cheap stretch fabrics. Everything is created not only to fit a variety of figures (vanity sizing) but to do so in the most cost effective ways possible for the manufacturer.

The biggest cost in apparel is labor— yes even in sweatshop manufacturing— followed by materials. Anything that cuts down on handling (sewing) or materials is favored. Could this dress shirt look better with darts? Yes but when you’re sewing 240 dz. for Target, that’s a lot of extra labor for something most consumers at that level won’t notice or might cause fit issues. So you get that blocky dress shirt with straight side seams, no darts, no shaping.

This is what I don’t get: for all their whining, this is easily the best timeline for fatty fashion; never has there been a time of more plus sized options, nearly all of it easily accessible through a mere tap on a screen. If anything the market is now over saturated with apparel for the size 16+ crowd. The stretch knit-infication of mass market apparels has led to women like that fat black chick able to squeeze her apron belly into Brandy Melville of all things— notice she wasn’t trying on anything with actual shape or pants. Go into Target or Old Navy or wherever and grab a cut-and-sew top; I guarantee most women, even plus sized, will be able to fit into the sizes two above and two below their actual one.
