Community Munchausen's by Internet (Malingerers, Munchies, Spoonies, etc) - Feigning Illnesses for Attention

Yeah apparently when I was a toddler I ate a bunch of my mom’s migraine pills and they had to pump my stomach. They were like in a coin purse in her purse. Kids put EVERYTHINg in their mouths. I’ve seen babies just lick dirty office floors. It’s literally in their development to explore things by putting them in their mouths. So the lack of tox screen is crazy.

Anyways the video I watched about this said it was exploratory brain surgery (so maybe no part was removed?) but I know a corpus callosotomy is done in extreme intractable horrible epilepsy cases, I wonder if that was it. It’s an interesting surgery; the corpus callosum is the section which connects the two brain hemispheres so severing it essentially contains seizure activity to one side of the brain, making them less severe. It can definitely have serious impacts, mostly between the coordination required by complex brain activity including both sides of the brain at once, so it is only done when the seizures are so bad quality of life is essentially nil and/or wanting to prevent the brain damage that will result from uncontrolled seizures. Sorry for rambling, it’s an interesting topic.

She also seems to have gone by Allanah Alison at some point and seems to relocate frequently. She was originally in Queensland, where she "rescued" her husband from a shark and had a "pregnancy" that didnt show. She had viral success when her older daughter was "convinced" her name was Chase - her brother's name. She has been in Western Australia, but her return to QLD (and what I know to be an excellent hospital) seems to have brought this to a head.

The news keeps saying "valium-like" substance and I am not aware of any indications for use in infants outside of a hospital setting because nobody needs a distressed AND addicted infant. Australian prescribing guidelines around these medicines are tough, as they should be. Food for thought.

Could it have been a research chemical she got off the internet? There must be benzo research chems out there somewhere.

My suspicion is indian online pharmacy or OTCs from Vietnam rather than research chemical, its just more *middle class* and common here due to the strict prescribing guidelines.

Also both surgeries were emergent AFAIK and I see mentions of encephalopathy so they were likely required.

Should say - I'm allied health, so there are definitely people ITT more skilled with this than me, but this chick... well... a picture paints 1000?

Sorry for the 3x posts. Havent fully got my head around combining them yet.

Check out that gofund me blurb if you enjoy foreshadowing. Particularly the Q&A.

Or just like, other benzos that she bought on the street, doesn't have to be research ones. Not sure about how it is in Upsidedownland but in the UK they would be easy enough to source. Or as @Dharma bump suggests, getting other non-valium benzos online is equally easy...

It took her 222 days from when she announced she was going on hospice and withdrawing TPN to when she actually shuffled her mortal coil, most likely from a combination of the massive drug doses and the kidneys she killed with them rather than any of the illnesses she had or claimed to have
What a goddamn waste of a life. And of her husbands life. He could have had kids, looking forward to grandkids. Fucking sad.

(Ngl, that versed and dilaudid combo sounds pretty sweet though.)

Also, a tiny niggle. Opiates including hydromorphone are fairly mild on the body and unlikely to cause any damage. Unlike say alcohol.

What probably fucked her kidneys was likely FA&FO with fluids, lines, diet etc.

There are definitely states in the US where you can go to any county run mental health program and walk out with, at minimum, klonopin. I'm talking same day as your first visit. The longer half-life makes it less fun, and thus safer to hand out like candy. But it would probably also make it easier to keep a small child in a relatively stable drugged state.

It probably doesn't matter though, benzos are a standard enough treatment for seizures.

could Allanah have been prescribed one of 'mother's little helpers' for the stress of a new family/sick baby and be using that? diazepam was used for anxiety, not sure if its on prescription in UpsideDownLand.
thanks for digging up the GoFundMe.. the frequent relocation you mention could be a red flag for MBP if doctor's started asking questions, or it could be nothing and she just had to move for her/her husband's work.
Allanah appears to have had a (legitimate) stillborn child before this, perhaps the attention from that kick started her MBP. It's also come out that the father has made a tinder account after finding out his wife was abusing their daughter. fucking vloggers.

This website is cancer, but the Overview and referencing are good enough for a starting point

Seems the Daily Telegraph has been following her for a while.

Medically speaking, a stillbirth is beyond 28 weeks. This one was at 20. A loss of life is horriffic, but we can't elevate miscarriage to stillbirth.

I can't find any information about what this woman did for a living before she had children, and a lot of the comments sections and articles have been taken down.

I am looking for good archive sets but we know how those sites are behaving right now. I have been focussing on what has been published about these people, rather than whatever their narrative is, and I have copies but they are tabloid cancer - someone will have done a better job though, and my archiving skills are about as good as my forum etiquette (tech retarded)

I do not believe the father had no idea. He may have been willfully ignorant, but he was happily in these "I am 8 months pregnant and not showing" articles, and has had a few of his own brushes with fame (from stepping on a poison fish) which give me pause.

Here are the prescribing guidelines for controlled substances Do you can make your own mind up.

Prescribing is so conservative that it is not unusual to, if prescribed at all, be given 4 x 2mg tablets, no repeats, and even with a kid in the hospital, it is more likely she would be prescribed Talk Therapy and an antidepressant by several country miles because best practices don't involve avoidably addicted mothers.

I am going to touch some grass now (:_(

Another one has gone to that great pain management clinic in the sky.
Hard not to be MATI for this one, more so than usual. The ex-wife of a prominent member of my area has MS and it's been awful watching her go downhill but her spirit is amazing for someone suffering like she does.

I'm also very excited to see what Kate brings us for Christmas on the farms.

Well well.. I was mindlessly scrolling through t’internet and look who popped up in my FYP - Nicole Grey (@onemorestep2) as I live and breathe! Looks like she’s still occasionally munching and is still self-confessed ‘pageant obsessed’ (lord knows who would enter her in a beauty pageant) but now works for the nhs too as a call handler. (111 is the non-urgent emergency service line). She’s also still got recent vids where she sets up her tube feed - last time I saw her on social media must have been a good 7 or 8 years ago and she only had an NG then, looks like a g-tube now.

I genuinely hope that perhaps she’s found some inner peace in helping others and maybe will gradually shift her focus away from munching, but somehow I doubt it.

I've followed her on Instagram (positive_nicole) with my sock for ages. My personal favourite was her claiming that she had a GCS of 3 during one of many hospital visits, after which she was discharged the next day.

She seems to have calmed right down since she got the new boyfriend and 111 call handler job. Love to see a (hopefully) reformed munchie, long may it continue.

For those who aren't familiar with the Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS), here is how scoring it works:

Components and Scoring:
Eye Opening:
1: No eye opening
2: Eye opening in response to pain
3: Eye opening to verbal command or spontaneously
4: Eyes open spontaneously
Verbal Response:
1: No verbal response
2: Incomprehensible words
3: Confused or disoriented speech
4: Oriented and conversant
5: Normal conversation
Motor Response:
1: No motor response
2: Abnormal flexion (decorticate) or extension (decerebrate) posturing
3: Withdrawal to pain
4: Localized response to pain
5: Normal motor response

Basically, a score of three is totally unresponsive. Even Terri Schaivo was comparatively lively. There is no way you could have a score of three and be discharged the next day.

The exception being opiate overdoses who usually perk right up (and want to punch you in the face) from GCS 3 after naloxone is administered. You’d have to tie them down to get them to stay until the next day. But Nicole probably isn’t a user, so yeah, she’s lying.

Even if she is an opiate addict who OD'd, she almost certainly isn't a catch and release when clinically sober. That's a red flag your munching days are almost over.

Is this the Nicole who used to go by “Just Breathe Nicole”? IIRC back then her munch of choice was some sort of vomiting disorder? Claimed to never be able to keep any food or liquid down for long?

I remember clicking through from her Insta to her blog, where she described the trauma of losing her dad at a young age. It wasn’t until then that I realised she was a true and honest munchie.

This also must have been the era of Kelly Ronahan and her mysterious blood disorder, rocking up at the hospital for her regular blood transfusions and doing ballerina moves with drip stands. They were innocent times.
