This doesn't surprise me at all. Nowadays, even some shipping companies require an ID check in the form of the person holding the fucking ID filming a video. I bitched about it and they said it's to prevent scams, money laundering and fraud. Some scammers and fraudsters use shipping companies to traffic their goods, of course they do. They're just covering their own arses. Maybe someone who uses CoinBase and Gemini can share their ID verification process.

You have to verify with everything you would to get a bank account. To buy or sell in actual currency, you need a valid bank account and not some sketchy Triad-run operation in Chinatown. Even for the lowest tier of actual KYC/AML, you need a state issued photo ID and to take a picture while holding it with your face in it.

And then they seem to do some other kind of voodoo because depending on how that goes, they may spend another couple days doing some other kind of verification.

It's cumbersome but pretty solid.

I don't know Gemini in particular but considering they're operating out of New York, one of the most Nazified KYC/AML states in the country usually with extremely aggressive AGs and U.S. Attorneys on financial issues, there's no way they're any less stringent in their verification.

Just to rain on people's parade just because Pat had a crypto account doesn't necessary mean he was swating himself. It could easily be a case of Pat seeing people getting rich and deciding a genius like him could easily make bank. As we know in reality Pat is a 1.2 GPA retard and he promptly lost all his money, and now he's just lying to hide his failure.

It's all really hard to be sure of either way since he lies all the time and about the weirdest shit.

Anyone that has an account on an exchange knows he is 100% correct. When I setup my account they asked for everything except for a scan of my cat's asshole, and had a mandatory stand off period to verify everything I gave them.

People aren't saying the mere fact he had a crypto account is evidence, it's the fact he himself claims that account was used to order the SWATs, but it's not actually his account, he's just the victim of the most sophisticated case of identity fraud in human history, which was perpetrated against him so they could spend thousands of dollars of their own money.

She's fabricated evidence, viciously attacked random people on the basis of them sharing a username with her target, and got called a "self-styled security researcher" whose conclusions did not match the evidence by the FBI when she tried to dox Torswats, which was their way of politely calling her an idiotic bullshit artist.

This really shouldn't be a surprise, given that she's so fucking stupid that she can't run a basic SQL query and once went on a bragging spree about the Farms being down because she pasted the onion address into a regular browser and it didn't work. She literally can't do basic programming or work Tor and still claims to be a super-leet haxxor cybersecurity expert.
