I don't really buy into the whole, "Donald Trump is doing 4d chess" bullshit. I think a lot of what he does is pretty straight forward and he can credit a ton of his success to the Democrats being complete retards but this Pat Bondi thing might have been the idea all along. She seems like she wants to do the same stuff Gaetz wants to do and it's harder to make up weird sex shit about a woman. Florida hasn't even held an election to replace Gaetz so, and tell me if I'm wrong, couldn't they just replace Gaetz with Gaetz?
From what I'm seeing here's what happens.
Appoint Gaetz knowing McConnel and the RINO crew won't let him in anyway
Media spends a bunch of time and money sperging out about something Biden's DOJ wouldn't even charge him for
Gaetz gracefully steps down
Nominate a woman who's going to do the same shit
Now RINOs need to take their foot off the gas or seem overly hostile
Media has to scramble to find anything about this new woman to sperg about
Gaetz just gets slapped back in his seat anyway
Media is forced to sperg about him for another news cycle

Bondi is a threat, and a parable.
You accept the pick Trump gives you, even if it's crazy and an outsider, because his next pick will be someone eminently qualified and totally loyal, someone who is dangerous enough to wreck your shit because they already know the role and know how to manipulate it. Bondi and the MSNBC coverage is all playing into a very clear narrative being written by Trump.
Take the joke candidate and run with them, or risk what comes next. They become the "offer you can't refuse," and the next step is a candidate that hits with all the subtlety of a horse's head in your bed.

It really is as simple as "Trump would prefer Gaetz, but has at least two people lined up behind him who will do the same thing".
No 4D chess needed, just people who share what Trump wants and all are loyal to him. He would -prefer- Gaetz because Gaetz has a personal axe to grind and so Trump knows he would go as hard as he possibly can to burn them all. Sadly, Gaetz either couldn't stand up to the pressure or decided he really did not have a chance and didn't want to force Trump into a losing vote. Either way, he is out. But... Trump has lined up multiple other people who also want to burn it all down, they just won't have Gaetz personal animosity.
No 4D chess, just a lot of people who want to burn it all down and at least one will make it through eventually.
As to why he doesn't just immediately jump to Recess? Well, they'd very temporary as a practical matter. And it might bog down the process as you have moves and counter moves in the senate. So, Trump floats it as a possibility, makes it clear he -will- do it if he has to, but then present multiple possible candidates in order. If the senate refuses all of them, fine. He then forces a recess. But more likely they agree on his second pick (with a backup third), knowing if he does recess appoint them... it will be the much 'worse' one they already rejected.
In short, its a mixture of The Big Ask alongside Pick Your Poison.

Okay faggot, since you're asking for it. Here is exactly what would happen, if I were Trump.
Step 1. I call the Governor. The Governor comes in and tells you to fuck off, or I cut off funding to the entire state of Colorado.
Step 2. If you refuse, I personally send the DOJ after you, Feds to arrest the Mayor and charge him with treason and sedition against the Federal Government.
Step 3. If that doesn't stop any of this, I show up with National Guard armed to the fucking teeth and 100 buses ready to take these faggots back to Mexico.
Step 4. If even a single police officer, or "Highland moms" step out of fucking line, or try to resist, they will be arrested and sent to Guantanamo fucking Bay. If they open fire, they will be met with open fire.
Step 5. You think what the DOJ did to the January 6thers is bad? These people are breaking ACTUAL crimes. And there will be actual punishments. They will never see the light of day again.
Step 6. I take the mugshot of the Mayor of Denver, whom will spend the rest/majority of his life behind prison bars, without parole, and I will mail it to every Sanctuary City Mayor in the country. All of these pictures will have "Fucking Try It, Love Donald Trump" written on it.

I have to admit, I'm not entirely sure myself. I honestly thought he was a weirdo back before he joined with Trump and was running as an independent. I'm not convinced that's changed just because he's hitched his wagon with Trump.

Andrew Gillum got caught brown handed with meth and overdosing gay hookers and still barely lost to DeSantis thanks to that machine. A butterfly flaps its wings, Miami Beach PD doesn’t show up at a certain hotel room, and Florida is a basket case swing state that somehow only ever swings in one direction thanks to Broward County.
Probably the most politically consequential random occurrence of the last 5-6 years other than what happened in Butler.

With all the statements from the Democrats politicians and mayors, here is an absurd thought. What if a civil war in the USA breaks out because liberal states refuse to comply with calls from the federal government to deport illegal immigrants?
