Nintendo Switch (Currently Plagued) - Here we shit post about the new Nintendo console, The Switch

Today marks 20 years since the Nintendo DS hit the scene. I've been seeing on the discussion online that while people do have a lot of fond memories of it, the DS's first party lineup wasn't all that great. Agree? Disagree? What were your favorite DS games?
I think there are a lot of first party games that would have been great if they didn't force you to use touch screen controls. Same issue the Wii had, really.

I'd say my favourite OG DS game is either Advance Wars Dual Strike or Mario Kart DS.

It's a strange situation, because they don't really have anything for December. If they don't announce it then it's just a wasted month either way.
Nintendo does actually have a game for December, its the same one they've had for the past seven years, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and it will surely outsell 99.8 percent of its competitors once again.

idk, as someone that loves Mario Kart, I've been gravitating towards F-Zero 99 more these days. It's just that much better of a racer because it relies purely on skill rather than luck with items.

It's not perfect mind you... the predatory "FOMO" shit they do with the events is dumb. Unlike Mario Kart 8, where you can just buy everything that's available, there's no way to get the stuff you missed out if you're just starting the game. The extra cars as "skins" and no "permanent classic mode" are the other things that annoy me.

My favorites were, hmm... (in no particular order)
1. The Castlevania Series (out of that if I have to choose one Dawn of Sorrow, but they are all good)
2. Chrono Trigger (I didn't have a SNES)
3. Resident Evil (Amazing Port)
4. Ghost Trick, Phantom Detective
5. Metroid Prime Pinball
6. Plants vs. Zombies
7. Retro Game Challenge
8. Jump Ultimate Stars
9. Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime
10. New Super Mario Brothers

This list could change if I remember something. I have a lot of much "cooler" games than these that I plan to get around playing someday.

The DS Version of Final Fantasy 4 was arguably the best version.

It managed to be harder than the OG somehow, the only real knock on it was that it didn't have that other bonus dungeon...and Bahumut was a fucking cockmonger in the DS version because you couldn't reflect Megaflare anymore.

Mario Kart DS’s wifi menu music gives me the same reaction as the food critic from Ratatouille.
Like Gamecube, I could go through a giant list of recommendations, but I’ll just drop a few obscure-ish first party picks:
Yoshi Touch & Go: A hidden gem of a near-launch tech demo game. Short, sweet, arcadey, and perfectly shows off the DS hardware.

WarioWare D.I.Y.: A modern Mario Paint where you can make your own microgames, music, and (barebones) comics. You can still download other players’ creations today through unofficial servers, or transfer them to DIY Showcase on the Wii to play them on a big screen.

Tetris DS and Art Style PiCTOBiTS: These are both highly recommended for fans of the NES. Tetris DS has a good variety of modes, and PiCTOBiTS is an action-puzzle love letter to the NES. Just listen to this music:

Mario Party DS: One of the best Mario Parties to this day, maybe even up there with the N64 games and Superstars. Don’t try to unlock everything, you’ll be playing forever.

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky: A cult classic, and definitely not obscure, but you’re missing out if you haven’t played it. The Project Orion rom hack adds a lot of QoL improvements, but also changes the list of possible starters (not better or worse, just different) and removes the personality quiz. If the starters bother you that much, you can open the rom in SkyTemple and change them.

Mario Party DS is peak single player Mario Party. I kinda wish the newer ones would try to replicate it, but that probably will never happen again due to the Switch (and it's successor) being a hybrid. Speaking of Mario Party, Jamboree is mid.

Castlevania games (Order of Ecclesia is the best in terms of pure gameplay, Portrait of Ruin has some neat stuff, Dawn of Sorrow is casual enough to be an easy "pick up and play" choice)
Mega Man ZX games (we will never get a third entry)
MMZ Collection
SM64 DS (yes, I unironically like it)
Tetris DS
Chrono Trigger
Sonic Rush was kinda cool.
