Boomer brainrot movies - How do you do, fellow kids?

Rewatching the scene and he's talking about actually using kids as child soldiers by using drones under the pretenses of it being videogame. I kind of see what you're describing but the text seems too literal & too divorced from any intended subtext. His plan is perfectly logical from a purely callous point of view & sounds like something a government spook would suggest in real life.

If I were to write a movie around the premise of "war toys make murderers" I would do the typical Boomer thing & center it on a teenager playing vidya leading to a school shooting and not a drone strike military program. Bonus points if the school shooter listens to noisy and aggressive counter-cultural music.

By the way, good thread idea.
"Ender's Game" did it better, albeit while being a blatant apologetic for Adolf Hitler

I like that time in the later Of The Dead movies
I am fully convinced the majority of George A. Romero's social commentary was accidental in the original dead trilogy. Diary of the Dead had a anti-MySpace and anti-YouTube message. Land of the dead was anti-George W Bush and pro-open boarders' propaganda that backfired horribly. George A. Romero outright comparing illegal immigrants to zombies that ended slaughter and taking over a rich apartment complex. Even Red Letter Media later admit they suspect the messaging in the dead trilogy was probably accidental.

To be fair to Spielberg there is an absolutely no way to polish that turd. It was a straight adaptation of something with the random tie-ins and quality of the Sonichu comics. Spielberg working with ILM for the effects was the closest it was going to get to okay. Apparently they’re considering an adaption of Ready Player Two, which will be even worse. But it won’t be The Room-style funny bad, it’ll be slickly produced Wattpad fanfiction.

Even more so than movies, TV is peak boomslop. SVU is great at this. Their “very special episodes” are all crazy. People wonder how their parents hold weird ideas or have crazy worldviews, when most of them go home and watch this stuff for six hours straight five nights a week:

I don't disagree, was no saving it. But feel the only reason Spielberg took it on is because he needed a hit and cynical part of him knew this was a easy one.

The Star Wars OT was basically all propped up by Empire (and the first half of Jedi) being so good. The original movie was saved in editing into a good but not great casual summer movie, but would be largely forgotten today if it wasn't followed up by Empire Strikes Back. Empire knocked it out of the park, but they got so up their own ass trying to sell toys they had to bring in the Ewoks to fuck up Jedi. The last half of Jedi kind of sucks shit because the tone is all over the place due to the Ewoks. Instead of leaving it as Wookies they tried to make the Ewoks both fearsome warriors and toyetic cute comic relief guys and it didn't work at all.
I'm gonna put my dweeb hat on and disagree on Jedi. Yes, the Ewoks are the weakest part of the film and turn that entire plotline into a screwball comedy, but the Luke, Vader, and Emperor subplot is some of the strongest stuff in the OT, imo.

Back to boomer brainrot, I'm surprised nobody's mentioned the raining champs yet: Hallmark movies. Those things are to boomers what Cocomelon is to babies.

If we want to count television Boomer Brain rot. The best example of boomer brain rot is Law and Order SVU. Dick Wolf is the poster child of an aging hippie douchebag that badly wants to fit in with the Woke niggers. It's comical. Law and Order SVU tries to get baby boomers to get behind pronouns, BLM, de-funding the police, transgender surgery for kids and #MEtoo. After Hamas attacked Israel, Dick Wolf became desperate to roll back shit like BLM pro-De-funding the police propaganda. After BLM and Antifa both openly praising Hamas and Palestine. SVU even had an anti-BLM episode. After how badly Kamala got BTFO by Trump. I wouldn't be shocked if Dick Wolf would try to roll back tranny propaganda.
I mean Law & Order SVU has always just used stories that have occurred in the news. I haven't watched it in fucking decades at this point so don't really know if they're trying to use it for political/societal change, but it seems more probable that they're just using whatever is in the modern news cycle.

Three pages of discussion about the same 5-7 movies, why all the sperging about Romero and coppola? Anyways idk if this is just brainrot or boomer brainrot cause clerks is not boomer. I'll give my picks.

Spy kids trilogy - the first movie was somewhat good but the other two are just 2000s schlock and I love them so much. They were able to do what sharkboy lavagirl could not.

Most Adam Sandler movies - Happy gilmore is still mid, I don't care what people say but I still like all of them including nonsense like blended (I like the Bella thorne character, what can I say). Idk nostalgia for the good ol times, when I was younger and loved watching retards on cable television.

All the 2000s YA adaptations - I'm referring to Charlie and the chocolate factory and the spiderwick chronicles but this can apply to others as well.

Flubber and the Eddie Murphy Dolittle movies - comfort food

I don't remember any others. Maybe tango and cash, I'll put it beside escape from LA. Idk I'm afraid of my brain rotting watching too much of this trash, if I even watch them. There's probably one or two will smith movies Im missing, hitch maybe. The non Borat baron cohen movies count as well, too many Jews in these brainrot movies man.

A New Hope is a great childrens film

Agreed. And people forget how brainblastingly popular those Ewoks were. Plushie animal toy mascots were all of the rage at the time, and they made movies and cartoons out of the Ewok characters, whom I was surprised to hear had actual names. Anyway, while I can only shake my head over how much George Lucas sold out with the Ewoks, part of me is impressed by the degree to which he did so. I'm also happy that that grump, Harrison Ford, didn't get his way and have them kill off Han in ROTJ. Han wasn't villainous enough for his redemption arc to end with his death and no kid wants to watch their heroes die. That's why when they killed off Han in Force Awakens, I figured that was just part of the brainrot that was abundantly infecting that movie...

George Romero's 2nd Dead Trilogy is equally as bad.

"They're just looking for a new home, just like us." Fuck you, George.

lol that was a great example. The original Night, Dawn and Day are some of my favorite movies of all time. The only good thing about Land was Dario Argento's daughter and that one scene where John Leguizamo talks about the mexican zombie mowing the lawn (seriously laughed for a minute straight at how stupid that scene was the first time I saw it). Talk about a series being ran into the ground. The two that came after Land were absolutely irredeemable.

Yep. The first film was saved in editing (go look at the deleted scenes - it was going to be much more melodramatic and the pacing would've been a complete slog). He was (rightfully) kicked out of the director's chair for the next two films.
I am so sick of this dumb "saved in the edit" argument. It's amazing of one hacky viral Youtube video is all it takes to convince people of the most retarded take imaginable. Here's a thorough debunking of that stinker:

Megalopolis by Francis Ford Coppola
Honestly that clipshow just made me want to actually watch the film. From what I heard I thought it was going to be utterly pretentious fart huffing, and don't get me wrong, it kind of looks like it, but it also looks bizarre enough to be entertaining, at least in a "to laugh at" sense.

It is an abortion of a movie. If you can get a friend to watch it with it's good to laugh at.

"Ender's Game" did it better, albeit while being a blatant apologetic for Adolf Hitler
I read the book years ago and hated it. The plot was uninteresting and poorly structured, the characters were stupid, and it had so many obvious holes. I never saw the movie though, so I have no idea how it praises Hitler.
