I've been seeing it written as "Kal" sometimes.

Just to confirm, Nina was only released from custody, and they still have a hearing to attend. Should they leave Arizona, what are the consequences of doing so?

If, as @MirnaMinkoff indicated, they can get the venue of the case/hearings changed to wherever it is Pajeet has residence it's probably perfectly legal to move across state lines, provided he actually shows up when a summons lands in the mailbox.

Curiously though I don't think Greta has said anything about them actually being out of Arizona, so maybe the judge told them to keep their asses in the state for the time being?

I don't know how summos are delivered in the US, but where I am they get delivered via certified mail so you'd have to either sign for them or the mailman jots down time and date when he plonked it into your mailbox, and if you're really unlucky it'll be an actual court bailiff that's delivering it to you personally.

That would take at least a hearing, I'm sure. And if there was such a hearing and they successfully wrangled a change of venue, Greta would be blubbering about it online.

(Or, I don't know, maybe she's shutting up a bit?)

Would the judge care enough? This is a federal department, it would be Greta's (or rather Nina's) funeral if she tried to stray and failed to show up at a hearing.

P.O. boxes aren't acceptable, must be a physical residence. There is NO excuse for not showing up to IC, none. There's even a hotline you can call that gives you status updates so "I didn't get the notice" does not fly for a sceond. If they miss a court appearance it's an automatic deportation order, no ifs ands or buts.

Also, the "100 mile border" doesn't really matter now. He's legally out on a immigration bail, he's not legal here but he has a pending claim so as long as he toes the line while his claim is being processed he's okay. If he gets stopped by ICE again it will be a hassle but as long as it's not for doing anything illegal he's just have to wait will they verify what his status is within the system. Only being denied CF, getting caught doing something illegal or missing a court appearance will get him a one way ticket back to Mumbai.

Getting a change of venue is nothing to brag about, it's procedural. The judge probably doesn't care where the fuck they go as long as their ass is at the next scheduled court appearance or appointment with immigration.

I'm still wondering if Nina has done her CF interview or not. There is a chance the judge/Immigration wants that done quickly so they stay in AZ to go to a CF interview before heading back to Chicago. The next master hearing will be months away, but a CF interview appointment could be relatively soon.

That's maybe the only plus to being prosecuted federally is generally it can happen anywhere.

Of course, you have cases like weev where they deliberately prosecuted him in New Jersey, where he didn't live, none of the "crimes" had any impact, and the feds had no reason for doing it but basically to harass him and make it impossible for him to defend the case. (This little stunt caused their case to get thrown out and weev to get released, though, in a rare moment of sanity.)
