Mega Rad Gun Thread

How is everyone? I'm back with an update regarding my nonresident NYC CCW application. If someone wants to skip, I'll leave a timeline at the bottom of this post.

In August I completed the required training and I gathered all paperwork I needed and made the submission on 10/21/2024. After under one month (last Friday) I received an email from Mark Bernard from the NYPD License division with my appointmet for 11/22/2024 between 8:00am-11:30am, and my application packet. The following couple of days, I got an email from the License Division saying that my confidentiality request was approved. Obviously today (11/22) I went into NYC.
What happens when you arrive at 1PP (NYPD HQ): You wait on the line in the visitor entrance building until you're called in at 8:30. You go through a TSA style checkpoint and then walk over to a ticket machine where you enter your first name, last name, and you take a picture. The machine prints a ticket with your name and a barcode. You then proceed into the 1PP lobby where you form a line behind a turnstile and wait until someone had a reception desk calls you over. You hand them your ticket and drivers license and tell them you're there for firearms fingerprinting. They instruct you to walk down a hallway to Room 110A which houses the License Division. You form a line at the door, one of the fine ladies takes your drivers license and hands you a clipboard to sign in and she hands you back your license with a post it note attached with your application/license number and instructs you to go to the room (forget the room number) that processes payments needed for fingerprinting which is under $90. You get a receipt and you walk back to Room 110A and wait until you're called in. The first call in is to be fingerprinted with livescan, once finished you walk back out into the hall again until you're called by the investigator and they walk you back to a desk where they go over your application packet and they look at your uploaded documents and tell you if you're missing anything, if you're missing docs, you can upload them after submission on the portal. After that, you're good to go wait for 7-12 months.
Timeline:
Training: 8/31/2024, 9/1/2024.
Submission: 10/21/2024
Appointment Email: 11/11/2024
Confidentiality Request Email: 11/13/2024
Fingerprinted: 11/22/2024
Will give updates in the future, as I'm one of the first nonresidents beginning this process for NYC.

What a fucking joke.

Good on you man!
Thank you sir!
Why are you doing this?
I have a friend who has enough land in New York to shoot on. In order to legally possess a handgun in New York State, you need to have some form of a New York Pistol Permit. Now, if you get a permit issued by a county in New York, you can only carry in any county or Long Island, not in the city. If you have a permit issued by the NYPD, it lets you carry anywhere in the entire state with the city included.
No county in New York will issue a permit unless you own a business or property. The only jurisdiction that will now (as of this past August) issue permits to nonresidents is New York City.

Well boys, back from the hunting trip. My buddy and I took another buddy of ours out for his first hunt. Of course my buddy and I, though we've been hunting since single digits, got jack shit.
While the new hunter on his very first hunt took a buck within about 26 minutes of getting in the blind with me. Good shot, too. Proud of him. Jealous and had to keep reminding him that it's NOT how it usually goes. Usually gotta freeze your nuts off 10 hours a day till you see something the last day.
Had some brief panic, as the firing pin on my 30-30 broke sometime between packing it up and pulling it out of the tent. Luckily had a buddy in the nearest town who ALSO had a winchester 1894 he was fixing for a friend because their pin broke. It stuck out just a cunt hair as theirs was a post-64, and I was too cold and tired at that point to really fuck with it, so we went out next morning only to discover that the bolt would not close completely.
So second day lost, went to the first buddy's parent's house to borrow their dremel to get the firing pin juuuuust a nipple hair behind the pin face. Now she runs.
Closed out the last day shooting about 1000 rounds of .22 at his parent's property and a box full of 9mm, 308, and my .22 subsonics (still shilling for those. Won't actuate a semi, but out of a boltie, they fuckin' rock. My Mossberg 46M is still the most accurate gun I think I have ever shot, could probably laser out to 150 with hot .22)
All in all, a good time was had by all except our kidneys. Think we killed a couple gallons of beer, rum, and whisky.
Disappointed because there were SO many faggot out of state hunters coming in droves of loud ass trucks packed with five dudes a truck, shooting, missing, and scaring all deer away.

Why do Americans seem to have love for either the latest HK416/M27 clone/Soviet-era SKS/AK reproduction but none for the CAR-15?View attachment 6661874
Had the honor of serving with this thing and I loved it. Sure it’s from the 60s but it was simple to maintain/remedy with Decent range, light-weight and great if you’re carrying massive weight through the woods or in closed quarters.
Back in 2015 Troy did a limited run of XM177E2 and GAU-5/A/A repros for a charity thing, I bought a GAU-5/A/A replica and I love it. The moderator is just a flash hider, is permanently attached, and the barrel is slightly longer than 12.5" to get it to 16" but it's a pretty good reproduction otherwise.

Where I'm at now there's tons of deer but all the land is full of hunters and nobody wants anotha nigga wandering around out there. I decided I'll just have a 30-30 next to my bed since I've got good window positions where I've seen deer before on the lawn or nearby.
I think I'll buy a crossbow and do the same thing next season as I saw plenty of deer while bow season was popping off, and they looked much bigger. Dude I know used to car hunt and he swears by crossbows, but he also lost his license for a couple years....

CCI standard is about the cheapest subsonic ammo you'll come across and really the most bang for your buck all around. Aguila standard is a lil cheaper but it's got slightly more duds/hard primers and half of it is super from a 16 inch Savage MKII. In super hot weather a bolt gun with a 14-18 inch barrel with a tight chamber you may get a super now and again with CCI std, but really most times that doesn't happen.

I had a case of Automatch, Armscor, and Magtech, but they're all pretty shit. Auto was 1-5% duds even with massive strike force, Armscor was that but 5-15%, and Magtech was full of near squibs that'd not cycle and would fall short of the target. I bought the Magtech in person and actually returned it as I absolutely cannot deal with squibs.
Winchester and Remington seem like shit and I'm not gonna buy any unless they're half the price of Aguila

Actually this is super interesting and I thank you for the NYC carry stuff. Also, damn dude I def broke some minecraft server rules before.

In better news, I'm not a prideful person, i just play one online. I was mixed feeling Mrs. Basso and her dad went birding with out me, but tbh I'm glad she got to spend the morning with her father. She's a big city girl then burbs but she just adores her father and he grew up as a dago hunting birds. I'm glad they got to spend that time together but kinda wished I could join. Same time happy I wasn't there.

Also I did see her fucking insta pics "husbands shotty new uggs daddy and meeeeeee" holding a pile of dead birds. (no don't search that she didn't type that). Now to brag, not only did she take my 870, (3" mag) she did the barrel and choke swap herself. Her father has a nice bird gun, but out of all the fire arms I own, my shot guns are pretty niggo level, like my 1100 that works after I throw it sorta? State laws say we can't use the auto 5.

We went out and her dad and step mom will do all the work gonna feast before thanksgiving. This was game bird, we just bought turkey lol.

What is this? Take your meds.

Forgive me I tend to ramble, as us old people do.

I was interested in the NYC pistol laws. I uhh, didn't know them.

I explained, my wife and her dad went birding. I'm glad they did she prepped one of my guns to do so. I kinda wanted to go along. All of my shot guns are shit, aside my auto 5.

I left her dad and step mom to clean up all the shit those two chuckle fucks shot.

Goddamn it must be good being American. Imagine buying that beauty with that cash going to help veterans in need.

since my last post of a nigger accidentally discharging a gun twice, I've been slowly but surely leaning more toward learning about guns. I've always watched videos here and there of presidential assassination recreations or people shooting water jugs or whatever. i know this thread is pretty active and you guys have given me good advice before so I'm gonna a few questions

  • as a new gunfag, where can I start learning about guns
  • is there any people who talk about guns that talk about them like a retard to people like me
  • is there any extremely autistic, in detail guntubers/websites I can learn from
  • what is a good gun to shoot at a range? I've shot a 12 gauge and glocks before, but that's my experience

this video is 2 months old, but I recently learned what a "Fudd" is, I've never known the phrase but I know these people because I've gotten into political debates about gun control and mass shootings.

LOL

I would recommend buying a cheapish AR15 (PSA or Aero Precision do a good enough job on a bare bones basic rifle) and just start learning everything there is to know about that rifle. Learning about that single platform will convert to a ton of generally applicable gun knowledge and in the meantime you will have a solid rifle that you can practice with/improve with better parts to suit whatever purpose you like down the road.

So start learning about .556 ballistics (that’s the most common ammunition used in ARs) and then you can start learning about optics and ergonomics and you’re off to the races.

Any question you might have about an AR is guaranteed to have a shitjillion unknown gun autists talking about that issue on YouTube. I wouldn’t point you to just one YouTuber as a good source. BrassFacts is good though.

Tons of good youtube, my nigga Ian (forgotten weapons) if you need to learn parts, actually we here are pretty damn good and very welcoming.

range is such an open term, how long are you shooting, budget etc? I mean 6.5 creed is wonderful but... costly and why only at 40 yards? What I'm saying nicely is what kinda ranges do you have to work with?

So that NIGGER ian.. sold me, I need a g2 p99... I am still on my Lee 6mm hunt and it's under budget, so I have some cash... any reason not to? Also I think mrs basso will love it so if we need to spend a bit.. she will def be ok. I only am angry because I saw another gun I had to have.

Lastly, my Walther experience, isn't good, I have CCP during my drunk and too much money days. It was a recall gun but I never trusted it. The ergos are amazing, I think I posted (lost phone since) lay out is almost like a full cz75 but smaller. Just a wonderful shooter but it had a slide explode issue. I got mine fixed but I still can't trust it, so I don't carry it and it's been in my safe for gosh 10+ years? Not even fired.

Even if the p99 isn't perfect or replaces mrs carry... I've always been a bond nerd and well any gun hoarding autismo should have a Walther. I just like all the stupid shit on it.

Not a problem. All of this is completely new for a lot of people in the NYC metro area and there's still pending litigation regarding issuance of permits outside of the NYC sphere. NYC is more weird, strict and convoluted than NYS.
In other news, as of yesterday my application has moved to "investigation" which is a good sign.

I'd recommend focusing on pistols first, as a new shooter. They're harder to shoot, but the fundamentals you learn on a pistol translate to long guns better than vice versa. They're also infinitely more likely to be what you have available if you're in a situation where you need a gun. For long guns, a basic bitch PSA or Aero AR will do you just fine. If you want a shotgun, the Mossberg 500, 590, or the budget version of those guns, the Maverick 88 are all solid.

Start close, on reasonably large targets. It's less demoralizing to know you're only getting hits on easy targets early on, than to miss repeatedly on harder ones. Hobbies are supposed to be fun, after all.

I haven't been liking current Mossberg QC I hope they snap out of it soon. I think that a better starter shotgun, if it were to be pump action, would be a Benelli Nova. I like it more than my 500. An affordable and very very great quality starter handgun in my opinion would either be the Glock 19 or the Beretta APX.

I want a shotgun I can use for general fun like skeeting and duck hunting but will also come in handy during the boogaloo as a door breacher/drone smacker. What action should this 12 gauge be? I’m looking at the Remington Tac 13 V3 but there are less expensive pump action products that fill a similar purpose with less speed. Whatever I pick it will need to be small enough to throw on a retaining strap/magnet behind my right arm on a plate carrier while not inhibiting movement. Ideally I could also use it in 3 gun shooting.
