Unlike DSP, Spoony was actually insanely talented, brilliant and had charisma.
If he didn't give in to his ego, and let his emotions have the better out of him, he could have kept making videos, kept improving and become a beloved YouTube figure like James Rolfe.

His Final Fantasy and Ultima videos are absolute gold, still love to rewatch them sometimes.

I even sympathize with him, losing the woman you love is a terrible tragedy, but he never recovered from it.

He's too famous to fake a resume, that's his real problem. Everyone fucking fakes their resume. Experience and all that is basically hearsay in the end. They can't call your priors and demand how you did. It's all a joke.

This is futile on the topic of Spoony, because he actively doesn't want a job. I believe that at least. He could at this point probably get a few certs, put his degree down, and get something midlevel in his area. He could also do Spoon comeback of 2024 and make videos and triple his patreon and get ads and probably make about the same for awhile.

It's not his degree or age or not being in the market that's the problem at all. It's just he's spoony, too good for anything more than taco bell job or less than getting a Del Toro acting spot.

Marzgurl, in comparison, has wayyy less chances on her own of having a job again even though I'm sure she wants to now.

Not disagreeing about the futility of Noah, but disagreeing on experience being hearsay and hiring managers not being able to call your prior employers and ask how you performed.

Because I may have a retired hiring manager in my family, and that's EXACTLY what they do. At least, it's what they do in the field said family member was in, and for the company said family member worked for.

Just to expand on this. Software dev is slowly getting outsourced to India, Vietnam and Hong Kong. Why pay the average College graduate from a US Public university 6 figures when a guy in Bangalore with 5 years of experience would do the job for 5x less?

Spoony is outdated and outclassed by even HS kids pursuing AP comp sci. Too bad he didn’t put his college degree to use during the 2000s to early 2010s. He would’ve been a millionaire by now but instead he’s a whiny seething leech on his sheriff brother

The dumbest part is, he still could have done both. Nothing would have been stopping him from putting out a video or two a month as a hobby/side-gig when he wasn't at work. The idea that all of these channel awesome idiots could replace having a full time job with screaming into a camera instead of having to grow up, really fucked up a lot of them and the ones that did have actual jobs(and weren't retarded) all seemed to have just left on their own at one point or another(benzaie, ed glaser, etc).

White lies like claiming in resume that you have 5 years of work experience at Google when in fact you worked there as a janitor are acceptable; outright lying is not. We joke about HR ladies but they're not that stupid or lazy they wouldn't bother calling your previous employer. Where the laws say that contacting your previous place of work for recruitment purposes is illegal?
And good luck faking STEM credentials like programming. Majority of "programmers" can't pass a basic bitch fizzbuzz in 5 minutes during interview.
Programming is a bit special in that nobody hiring you (if they know anything about computors themselves) gives a shit about your degree, only what you know and can implement because everyone with an Internet connection can learn rudimentary JavaScript or Python. You don't need expensive lab equipment to train a programmer like you'd have to with, say, a chemist.

He could do something like say he was a consultant for a family business. I'm not saying he should say he was at Google or anything big or crazy.

It really depends on what and where he tried at. His degree would still have a little bit of help in some places. His big problem is that he's too much of a lolcow on the net for that though. Not like it matter anyway, he's not going to do anything. My advice would be go get some real certs and play into that and his degree and say he did consulting for friends and family. That won't get him into a Fortune 500 or anything, but he'd be able to get something. Many do that all the time.

Trying to give career advice to any washed up e-celeb is fairly hopeless though, so I know it's silly in general. His true best move would pump out a vid a month, even low effort ones, and try to build up a patreon again. Maybe do some local get togethers and conventions and try to use himself as nostalgia bait. But yeah, it's spoony.

There's no easy pathway for Spoony to gain meaningful "real world" employment at this stage. I would say his degree is worthless now as he has no significant/practical experience attached to it.

Above is screen capped from his Linkedin profile which to my surprise, is still public. We're now approaching the 20 year mark since he threw up his trencher cap. Even just looking at his Linkedin I would have so many questions as a potential employer, none of which you could easily sugarcoat the answers or BS your way out of. An employer is going to see "43 years old" and have expectations on what that person's CV should look like in terms of work history and work references:

Which leads to the other massive hurdle: 5 minutes of digging and any employer will find the history of TSE and the YT downfall videos then quickly say no thanks. Spoony would need to change his legal name at this stage. I've worked with managers who would trawl the net and major socials for information on candidates who made a shortlist. Yeah sure, there were probably ethical or privacy lines being crossed, but that didn't stop people from doing it.

Anyway, I'm just beating the calcified horse corpse at this point. I'm not saying it is impossible, but every year that passes the angle of the hill that must be climbed becomes ever steeper. His only real options right now are to rely on Miles and a possible inheritance (assuming he is even still in the will), or make a comeback in some capacity and.......... you know what I cbf properly finishing this post its all been discussed to death. It's Spoony he's not going to do anything.

CV's and 'work experience' are minor parts of getting a new job, unless you're trying to get into some real corp. He could easily find an IT job.. wtf, he COULD HAVE if his irl name and nonsense weren't all over the place.

Faking resumes if you're going for a low-medium small-medium job if your criminal background isn't littered isn't that hard people. The hard part is that people think linkedin and indeed and so on blacklist you (they do) and that's the only options.

A 'normal' person could take all Spoony's background, delete the insanity and CA stuff, and go forward. But that would take a normal person and he obviously doesn't care to do that.

And I'm hoping a post Biden economy will be a bit easier on the tech workers going forward, at least some. The H1B pajeet menace mostly did that in, not anyone's 'background'.
