(Inquisitr) -
Katelyn Nichole Davis committed suicide over the weekend, and in a morbid final act, the 12-year-old girl allegedly posted live-streaming video of it on Facebook.

The Georgia girl was found outside her home on December 30 with what the Northwest Georgia News described as “self-inflicted wounds.” Paramedics tried to save the girl after she was first found just after 6 p.m., but Davis was declared dead at the Polk Medical Center’s Emergency Room.

Police are reportedly investigating the allegations that Katelyn Nichole Davis posted live video of her suicide. The Polk County Police Department had obtained a search warrant for the girl’s phone and Facebook account, as well as a third social media site, Northwest Georgia News reported.

But while police continue to investigate, a video identified as the 12-year-old’s suicide was posted across social media. An Instagram page identified as belonging to Davis also had messages about heartbreak and a note posted five days before her death that read, “Reblog in memory of those who have committed suicide.”

If she was on antidepressants, that could explain a lot tbh. Typically a lot of antidepressants come with a "black box warning" on them nowadays because they come with a side effect of making adolescents and young adults paradoxically even more depressed to the point of suicide. They're supposed to be closely monitored when they first start them for stuff like this.

They don't make them more depressed. The paradoxical effect is because while the person still retains suicidal ideation, they're more energetic and actually able to carry out their negative intentions.

Noice, I was needing some wank material. Thanks lads.

More edges than bismuth.

Christ, what a sad situation.
Imho, the combination of depression/bad home environment/internet could only end like that. When we are depressed or suicidal, or even cutting, it's not hard to google those things and find whole communities devoted to that. For what I read, she had some audience with her online diary and I can only imagine the type of asspats she received. Add to that the shitty home situation and abuse and bam, suicide.

I kinda envy her courage to do it tbh

Tbh, you don't need courage to do this, when you're sincerely hopeless, its kind comes naturally

she's having decerberate then decorticate convulsions, not trying to get back to the tree. the first thing she does is a position associated with frontal lobe damage, the "fencing position" seizure. after that her body moves into a position which is normally a sign of impending brain death- arms turned in at the sides, fists clenched. she's rocking and moving because she's seizing. her legs move because she's in decerberate convulsions.

that short drop, though. terrible. a longer drop in the rope would have made her death much quicker. after the first moment of seizing she wouldn't have been conscious but she could have avoided even that, with a longer drop.

it's really rotten to see someone so young in this kind of position, this situation.

I read an article, a long time ago, dealing with suicide among the young population. There's people as young as 8 commiting suicide, it's truly shocking to see. And their stories are more or less the same: Bullying, home environment, abuse by family...

yep, crap. either way she was out of it pretty quickly but not quickly as she could have been. and she's not struggling, just seizing.

The worst part is actually just listening to her in the period leading up to it. The sentiments are very standard for depressed tweens. The "successful" suicide isn't.

Nor is the sense of timing or theatricality. If this kid had lived she would have had a career in cinema.

Fuck this world.

I don't really like the phrase "It Gets Better" much, because odds are, it doesn't, but it probably would have for someone with this level of talent. I hope this raises awareness of. . .something. Anything.

I found this article, not the one I mentioned earlier, but its still an interesting read.
Some highlights for tl;dr:

Compared with early adolescents who died by suicide, children who died by suicide were more commonly male, black, died by hanging/strangulation/suffocation, and died at home. Children who died by suicide more often experienced relationship problems with family members/friends (60.3% vs 46.0%; P = .02) and less often experienced boyfriend/girlfriend problems (0% vs 16.0%; P < .001) or left a suicide note (7.7% vs 30.2%; P < .001). Among suicide decedents with known mental health problems (n = 210), childhood decedents more often experienced attention-deficit disorder with or without hyperactivity (59.3% vs 29.0%; P = .002) and less often experienced depression/dysthymia (33.3% vs 65.6%; P = .001) compared with early adolescent decedents.

Nevertheless, suicide ranked 10th as a cause of death for US elementary school–aged children in 2014.2 While our understanding of suicide in children remains limited, a recent analysis of suicide trends in US children (ages 5–11 years between 1993–1997 and 2008–2012) found a significant increase in the suicide rate among black children and a significant decrease for white children.3 Given consistent observations that suicide rates for adolescents and young adults are higher in white subjects than in black subjects,1,48 this report of a higher rate of suicide in elementary school–aged black children raises questions about whether there are important racial and developmental differences in the underpinnings of suicide between elementary school–aged children and older youth.

It seems that social isolation/bad family relationships is an absolute cause.

The fact she hanged herself during the sunset and it got darker and darker until she actually did it was something that is amazingly sad and beautiful at the same time.
The timing was perfect, if this was a movie it would probably earn the Oscar just for that scene.
Sadly it was real life :(

Wonder what kinda messed up internet groups she was talking to, because this seems like an idea someone put in her head, not something she just happened to come up with

I guess it's time for a little powerleveling
I had (yes, HAD, sadly) a very close and dear friend who was battling with depression because some abuse she was enduring in her house. She became distant with every passing day, and one day, she finally cut contact with every one of her friends, including me. I tried to contact her by all means possible, when I remembered that she talked about a 'support forum' she visited sometimes. I made an account on that forum (because only members could see the content) and jesus christ, the things I read on that place... Various people asking for help and the majority of comments were "just end it, what's the purpose of trying?" or "you're a failure, deal with it killing yourself". I was really upset with it, logged off and never returned.
I honestly think that those types of places attract not only the hurt, but the sociopathic too. People who legit get off with the extreme pain and suffering others are enduring and only want to see more bodies piling up.

Is the swinging due to muscle convulsions or was she trying to get back to the tree? Seems like she had regrets once she done it.
I'm gonna guess both, thought it probably started with the former.
