I think people going along with it is what really drove the backlash against them. Initially, the normies thought they were dealing with reasonable people. But then it turned out that nothing was ever enough. If you called them women, they’d complain that you didn’t actually believe it. If you let them be women socially, they’d complain that you didn’t lie about objective biological facts. If you let them into lesbian spaces, they’d take them over
and demand that you fuck them. If you let them use the female changing room, they’d complain if women weren’t in there with them. All the time using their “marginalised” status as justification for all sorts of disgusting behaviour. And of course, being women never actually meant solidarity with cis women.
There comes a point of “Well you know what, we really fucking tried.”
