Considering Null's response rate is astronomically higher than TLL's we should just forward all suicidal troons directly to his house for emotional support. Clearly it's the humane thing to do and people won't be able to say KF doesn't care about the lives of transpeople anymore. Clearly a win-win situation to all parties involved

I have a question for you. I played their answering machine message that Null had submitted back in August. In a rather weird and unsettling voice, it says, "No one is available to take your call. Try again later.". I wasn't prepared for it to be THAT terse. Is it the same or something extremely similar now?

Yes, I reached several operators over this time period, but I had to try again later way more often.
No, calls were not recorded. I may live in a legal grey area here, but I didn't want to risk it.
I did this because after reading about TLL on KF and having two friends commit suicide I felt it was important to validate or invalidate KF's claims. This could only be done on a longer time period (and, yes, I practiced very safe sex during this project).
Anyway, I won't discuss much else right now.
I will drop a little spoiler though: I informed one operator that I was suicidal (for the purposes of this research). The operator asked if I was transexual, and I said "I don't know" to which the operator replied that I should figure out if I was transexual first before calling back, then hung up.

honestly i will have to question that move had you called me in a similar scenario, i would have picked up that you were prank calling and i would have quietly hung up.
maybe i am just being too autistic for the room

Questioning one's sexual identity honestly really sounds like something that might drive someone to consider suicide. It's a genuinely scary thing to realize you may have to confront, without even going further than, 'Holy shit, could this actually be a part of me?? What do I DO??'
If a suicide hotline for transpeople has operators who automatically assume that someone is pranking them when they say they don't know if they're trans? It's even worse than we thought.

Imagine how her parents must feel. Finally healing from the suicide of your child before finding out a suicide hotline reserved for kids like her didn't even pick up the phone. I'd be pissed beyond comprehension if I found out.

Remember, they already got shat on by the trans community for still calling their child "he".
Their child identified as trans, put their faith in a crummy hotline, and had their life taken by grief. I wonder how many times Greta has used that name, actually, for a penny.

If you are a helpline volunteer, you simply don't "pick up someone is prank calling", since that can literally cost lives. You assume the best intentions and act as such.
The only time volunteers where I was were allowed to assume someone was prank calling was if the caller was making any sort of sexual advance. Other than that, there's no reason to hang up, all you are going to waste is the volunteer's time, which is little compared to possible lives.

Which isn't going to be an issue when you have willing, well-trained volunteers who actually pick up the goddamn phone on occasion.
