Brianna Wu / John Walker Flynt - "Biggest Victim of Gamergate," Failed Game Developer, Failed Congressional Candidate

For people that play FF XIV, what are retainers?
Essentially they're NPC's that can do things for you, as well as being additional storage.
You can send them on missions and stuff, but I guarantee you that theres not a chance in hell that retainers alone can support maxing out all your crafting in any sort of timely manner. Because your higher tier materials get fairly expensive. It's just a poor excuse to shift the blame and pretending to be legit.

You also have to pay extra for them, you get two as part of your standard monthly sub and have to pay an extra fee on top of your sub for each additional one you have.

Good old Brianna, never knowingly passing up a chance to pay to win, even in an MMO.

There's still a problem with Wu's claim that retainers are how she's managing to get everything she needs for crafting. Retainers can only be given jobs that you have, and they can only reach the same level on that job as you have, and I don't believe they can be given crafter classes at all.

That means the only viable class Wu's retainers could be is White Mage (her only combat class at 60). She'd then need to have enough gear to properly equip EIGHT fucking retainers to go and hunt for materials. Thing is, retainers can only hunt materials dropped by monsters. Ore, lumber, and fish would all require gatherer classes to be efficiently collected. So that there is still a place where there's no answer for Wu's acquisition outside of begging her FC to donate her materials or buying gil.

Edit: Also, I'd love to know Wu's excuse for glamouring her crafting pants into something so short it looks like her character is just wearing the coat.

Wu: never an original idea.

I never played the game, but she said Gil isn't a problem so I'm assuming she buys the materials from other players and uses her retainers to make money. But I have no idea if the game even works like that.

Your retainers are how you sell shit on the game's equivalent to WoW's Auction House, so they are technically how you make money. But you still need to actually have things worth selling.

She most likely bought in-game currency. I think an earlier screenshot of her character from around a year ago showed she had an insane amount of gil. I remember because I couldn't stop thinking about what a moron she was for posting info people could use to find her in-game.

She's definitely casually playing but having crafters to 60 without gatherers to 60 is easy - there's several ways to accomplish that that just involve buying cheapo base materials/the item itself. A little more in-detail look at her lodestone reveals she's buying all the top-end crafting gear since all but a few pieces are made by completely different people (that aren't in her guild either), and the few materia melds make 0 sense for someone who has that kind of money legitimately to be throwing around.

Considering she's had a crazy amount of gil while leveling, like her last 14 screenshot (it was deleted in the purge it looks like, nabbed the attachment from earlier in the thread), there's no doubt about it. She's buying it.

I do have a guildless Gilgamesh character but her guild is very tiny and from looking around on various sites, is on the casual side so infiltration efforts would be extremely obvious. I'm also 90% sure she logs in only to do patch content so she wouldn't be easy to be friends with timewise.
