Based on his and Katie's attempts to explain moderation on Substack vs Ghost - they never seemed to get the difference between paying for Ghost to host you vs hosting your own Ghost blog and their failures to describe how Mastodon works, I highly doubt either of them is capable of buying a domain and spinning up a linux VPS to federate with bluesky.

Like Jesus FUCKING Christ people, you don't need to "get it taken down," you just send the former webmaster a one-line email formally ending the business relationship, change the link, and sign up with one of any number of drop-shipping platforms. There was absolutely no reason this process had to take more than a couple of hours, they are just so utterly helpless and lazy that they've found it easier to just say "don't buy the merch" for over TWO YEARS now.

I don't know, I found Katie raking Jesse over the coals about aggitating the paying customers to be pretty satisfying. The fact that he was obviously lost for words was kind of funny. I also like the way she pointed out he wasn't pulling his weight on the show.

It was funny for a while, then I realised they weren't joking and they really couldn't find a way to take the merch store down.

The podcast is making a lot of money, and all they've got is a part time researcher, whose appearance coincided with a steep decline in the quality of the podcast.

I can't speak to your IRL life but I'm a pretty social person and would be very stressed out if my interactions with other people were consistently of the tone that Jesse and Katie use with each other. I don't think they "hate" each other "secretly," but I don't think they especially like each other.

Secondly - it truly doesn't even remotely matter in any case. I hate a lot of my colleagues, but work alongside them in close quarters for many years anyway. Insofar as it effects the podcast, the exact tenor of Katie and Jesse's bond is of zero relevance to you. They could do this for a decade more and truly hate one another like most coworkers in the world.

I don't have autism* so I prefer it when podcast hosts speak with a pleasant tone and imply friendly relationships with each other. They could be pretending, that's fine, so long as they're not being snippy little bitches whose barely contained irritation towards their cohost is distracting from the discussions that are the entire actual promised substance of the podcast.

If horsefuneral hates the guy working next to him on the sandwich line at Arby's because that guy's allowed to use the beef slicer and horsefuneral is not, it doesn't affect the taste of the sandwiches. If Jesse and Katie can't fake having fun together, it does fuck up the flavor of the podcast.

Their banter started as actual, if dumb, jokes like the horse thing. Now it's decayed into "we irritate each other" as both setup and punchline.
