General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

Yea. I continue to be right about shit going on at Cover.

I wonder how many more graduations we can expect over the next year. They seem to be dropping like flies.
Chole had a myriad of health issues and apparently missed her PL graduation stream because of them, alongside some hiatus-es as Chloe
Amelia had extreme family issues right before quitting being full time
A-chan had to switch to being a full time care-taker and had to leave because of it
Gamma iirc decided to go full time as a mangaka

Aqua is the odd one out and it was seemingly more out of wanting a less stressful life

I dont think just yet we will receive any extreme confirmation of cover being incompetent, and there is still a high chance of that being the case, but alot of the talent sans Mel who has decided to call it quits had some issues beyond their or cover's control affecting their decisions and thoughts on remaining with the company full time

I’m actually curious.

Gura is well known to be a talent that rarely ever streams now with Hololive. They have have so many talents now it’s impossible to keep up, but how many other Hololive vtubers have also been going down the path of rarely ever streaming anymore? I know Shion has sort of always been that way too, but I wouldn’t be shocked if there were a lot more of their talents seemingly streaming way less than they used to back just a year or so ago.

Compare those that have been streaming way less to those that seem to continue to stream fairly regularly still to this day. I would just continue to keep an eye out on those that have seemingly stopped streaming/producing less content in general.

Speaking about the specifically from a marketing standpoint, this is unfortunately going to happen but it becomes dire when you consider that most of their talents that are beloved are the older ones as opposed to the newer ones imo.
The market is super saturated and not just vtuber market in general the hololive market is super saturated.
Hololive on the whole has only so many fans in general and when you keep adding talents to the pool of people who like your company you're not gonna pull that many external new fans after a point. Then you start diluting the attention to other talents or the new ones. Some retirements may be the best thing for them, but at the same time it could be really bad when its the real huge talents retiring.
E: Fixed some retarded grammar.

After all, a business that does not adapt with the inevitable does not deserve to survive
I don't think cover is in any kind of trouble, their talent still pull plenty of money and the more established they are the more sponsorships they'll get etc.

not every change is necessarily good, even less if it's change for the sake of change.

If youre attracted to children, then you're a danger to children, neck yourself.

Main reason seems to be the shift in Cover's direction, just like Aqua. Her poor health situation was another reason for this decision. It's still weird to start her anniversary stream with such an announcement.
It is worth noting that I think a good bit less dire sounding for her main reason was her saying that she just found something she wants to pursue outside of hololive which she doesn't think she could do while still being in Hololive. Which I'd say sounds better than just chocking it up to "a shift in cover's direction" (at least without knowing what it is she plans to pursue after leaving) because it sounds less like "the company changed and left me behind" and more like "both parties just want different things for the future"

For the timing she basically just said she decided on it because she didn't want to celebrate the anniversary with this lurking in the background only to spring it on fans next month.

I'd be more inclined to consider the dooming about cover fucking up angle if there were really any substance to it outside of speculation and armchair managing with only a fraction of the information.

Outside of Vesper/Magni who seem to have some lingering distaste for how ENstars are handled, Even with all the graduations we've seen we don't really see anyone tossing any negative sentiment back at cover after leaving, which we've seen from Several Niji's post graduation which pretty well dispels any initial notions of it being contracts keeping people silent, if the exNiji folks are saying the kinds of things they do, surely you'd think at least one of the ex-holos would too. Even Kson who famously runs her mouth in pretty clumsy ways hasn't ever really shit on cover indirectly or otherwise.

It all just kind of lends itself to the notion that these really are just generally amicable partings with the talents wanting to go after something else for different reasons.
The sole exception are the dogs because they've popped off in a very specific way, but if any of the fantasy or myth girls end up leaving it's going to become very obvious that there is going to be a huge hole within the company that just can't be filled.
I think you might be stuck in a pretty narrow and subjective view on this because a lot of the newer girls have their own pretty dedicated and somewhat exclusive fanbases. Even putting the dogs aside I know a lot of folks that got into holo specifically because of advent. and then within Justice I think you might have not noticed the immense support that osmeone like Cecilia has been getting, like if you think the dogs are a standout hit let's look at the financial support they saw upon monetization and compare it to Cecilia1732928972555.png1732928934453.png

There are many metrics for success, if you're only considering raw subscriber count certainly one could argue that the dogs are the "only ones who popped off" but that's far from reality if you start to look at other metrics alongside just sub count.
I would just continue to keep an eye out on those that have seemingly stopped streaming/producing less content in general.
Shion's streaming has been sketchy for years and she's gone on multiple menhera breaks, hasn't left
Ayame has been so infrequently streaming that she's been a meme for it for 3+ years, hasn't left
Gura's streaming schedule has been ass for over 2 years now, hasn't left
Chloe was streaming with a fairly normal frequency outside of her breaks. Is leaving

Your pattern recognition is ass. and at this point even if Gura or Ayame left it wouldn't even prove your point because your "predictor" is "If they stopped streaming much they might graduate in 2-3 years" which at that time scale just isn't a prediction anymore.

but at the same time it could be really bad when its the real huge talents retiring.
Think back to how profitable and massive Coco and Rushia were at the times of their departures. Cover's a good bit more durable in this department than a lot of other agencies because even the fans of the big departures are still fans of other girls in the company too, and, more often than not more of those fans stay with cover than leave to follow the talent.

From my perspective as someone in American marketing, it’s hard not to focus on the subscriber counts—maybe that’s just my bias showing. I’m not saying the newer talents aren’t great, because they clearly are, but I feel like the older generation had this unique cultural impact that’s tough to replicate.

Some of them managed to break out of the Weeb niche and into mainstream online conversations, which is no small feat. It speaks volumes about how well Cover Corp hit the mark early on in finding talents who were not just entertaining but also unforgettable. Those early members set a standard that’s incredibly hard to follow.

I don’t think the new gens are doomed or anything—they’re talented, and there’s still plenty of room to grow. But if I’m being honest, I don’t see us hitting the same highs we did before. The landscape is more crowded now, and while the new talents will absolutely carve out their own successes, I think those massive peak moments might be more of a thing of the past.

I think it is obvious that the streamers are only leaving if they want to do something else, have to leave or get fired.

Holo does not seem to mind if their Talents sit back and be happy.

This has nothing to do with what I said. You're arguing with someone else who isn't here, that's the definition of a strawman.
you were replying to someone pointing out fiction isn't reality.
I don't know how to explain this to you, but if you have trouble differentiate between it, I really don't wanna know what happens once you figure out what "roommate" means in this thread.

Can we please not devolve this thread into the tired fucking Lolicon argument, it's already autistic enough.
not really an argument, it just gets concerning when people start to sound like dr pizza...

If you are attracted to children, you are therefore a danger to children. Nobody is claiming loli is a real child, what it does tell us is that you're attracted to children, it makes it clear what your "type" is.

Can you two just tell each other to kill yourselves in DMs and get it over with already?
I would genuinely rather have Nolan live posting again, screaming "LMAOOOOO" for 3 pages, than this.
