I took a little break from watching DSP as after all the events of the past year he's ended up in the exact same position as we was before except with LGB lights and somehow even more aggressively begging. However I've been lured back in as I got wind of a DSP tech setup special which is my all time favorite content, and what a treat it's been so far.

Just to clarify as I've been out of the loop. Phil has bought an overpriced, overspecced pre-built gaming PC to act as his new streaming PC. It didn't work with his existing capture card so he bought a new external capture card and it still doesn't work. To allow him to use the capture card on the brand new PC he bought specifically for capturing, Phil has bought some sort of USB adapter but it still doesn't work because he bought the wrong one.

I'd love him to take an IQ test because it must be low 80s, he's so slow.

I don't know if you paid attention to Phail during your break, but that was actually his SECOND new pre-built PC he bought this year. The first PC is solely for gaming, while the second is only for streaming. The setup went exactly as you would expect:

I've come to a point that I often do with lolcows where I learn enough about them, and begin to paint a clearer picture of lives, compared to the more attractive drama that makes them out to be monsters, that I now feel bad for Phil. Don't get me wrong, he's a bad guy, but I can sympathize with him clinging onto the luck of his early YouTube career, and hoping that he can make a living out of it, despite his lack of intelligence and puerile behavior. He's always afraid of the immediate future, not knowing if the dents are going to kick up to their King, and that's really rough. It has contributed to the deterioration of his appearance, and an obvious decline of his psyche, which was not strong to begin with. Now he's a bilious hermit hoping to eke out an existence for the offing. Once upon a time he was a young man that had some hopes, and him getting laid off for probably being a shitty, not well-adjusted employee, fomented a need to prove himself to those around him, and maybe the most to his father, who seems to be estranged now. Him getting lucky with early Youtube convinced someone with poor critical thinking that the money would last forever, with the rest being history. He lies now because he needs to perpetuate whatever verity suits him at the moment, a desperate position.

Phil really should be put into a group home or something similar. He struggles to live alone, and typically needs a maternal figure to do all the housework, not to mention his inability to finance his life properly, having the spending skills and thrift of a child. It's never too late for someone to change, but he would need severe intervention. He's gotten to the point where he's pushed all of the trolls away, which is for the worse, because he now lives in a state of paranoia, thinking that there's a master plan made up by the detractor hivemind that could strike any minute, and that him being ignored by the rest of the internet is just a part of it.

Once upon a time he was a young man that had some hopes, and him getting laid off for probably being a shitty, not well-adjusted employee, fomented a need to prove himself to those around him, and maybe the most to his father, who seems to be estranged now.

Man you gotta learn about his FGC days where he was a lolcow to their little community back then and called into their radio show only to embarrass himself (such as measuring his penis with a receipt). Then realize his "career" he was laid off from he was one of three employees as a phone sales rep tasted with entering orders from customers, and the supervisor was his father. He never had a chance, and Linda as well as Dave knew this. They failed him through their denial of the truth and not preparing him for a sub 80 iq life.

On this, we agree. But I hope first that Khet leaves him for her own group home for fridges, or maybe an appliance overstock warehouse or something. Then he has to move in with his parents, and THEY put him in the group home. Watching the PC setup stream as someone who has done software engineering for about 20 years, nearly made me have an aneurism and I have practically zero experience with OBS aside from using it to clip people a couple times.

This whole cope of DSTech streams having low view/engagement makes no sense whatsoever. If memory serves, the disastrous PC setup stream was one of his biggest non-botted streams of that month if not the year.

Probably the most likely scenario. It's basically confirmed that he talks to his whales (and Derich) behind the scenes, so it's not outside the realm of reality. Given his weird persistence on keeping this "streak" alive I wouldn't put it past him to pull a stunt like this either.

I agree with you, except for the part about feeling bad. DSP is a greedy, manipulative narcissist and I find him genuinely impossible to pity (which is IMO what makes for a truly fun lolcow, none of that pesky empathy getting in the way).

That is more true then you think. Even at Sikorsky he was thinking of staying there for the rest of his life while also eyeing the position his father held despite neither having the training nor skillset to actually hold this position. He was a glorified support agent and who knows how often he fucked up (heck he got a laptop so he could complete his work at home laze in the evening which either tells me he stated working really late or was just slow) Also worth to consider how much alcohol he drank in his early years. That can't be good for his development. He even said himself he is a "former" alcoholic (yeah right)
