Vtubing is still kind of looked at by facecam streamers the same way Hollywood looks at animation. I've seen a tweet from some account that covers ecelebs release "Top Ten watched female streamers" and the list did not include Pekora, any hololive girls at all, Ironmouse, Henya, Fillian, or Neuro-Sama. They community noted and the real top five watched female streamers were vtubers.

It certainly inherited the ick that people had with anime originally which is why people that aren't already into anime tend to dunk on it endlessly.

I have colleagues that will gladly indulge in talking about whatever new anime is out dandandan, but will avoid Calli's music like the plague and a lot of that just has to do with the assumption that weirdo anime fans watch Vtubers because they're lonely thus making the vtubers themselves the equivalent to animated E-girls .

I really didn't believe that this artwork is real when I first saw it. Why in the hell would Cover use the ugly ass, nondescript, corporate blob people art when they own every single fucking character in Hololive? It does VR shit, AR shit, and Hololive. How much bugman glue are you huffing to pay someone to make this soulless dreck when you have access to over 70 different, colorful, identifiable mascots that you already own?

Anime is becoming the default cartoon aesthetic worldwide, their company revolves around people talking over video games with an anime avatar, and they're doing this. I don't even really watch a lot of VTuber material but that combo of corporate speak and corporate artwork for something so simple feels wrong.

As soon as you see this Corporate Memphis style art start being used by some outfit you know that whichever company whether big or small is using it no longer has any interest in even pretending to care about their customers or their employees.

My first thought was that it was some sort of gesture of solidarity. I doubt it was a coincidence that not long before that Gura posted on her PL she was Gawr Guras number one fan. Probably killing two birds with one stone and foreshadowing her graduation for her fans as well.
