Equating most pre-English Civil War/French Revolution political movements with ideological progressives or reactionaries of the modern era is idiocy. Ideology as a concept is a civilizational argument within post-Renaissance Christendom and does not meaningfully exist without having it as a frame of reference; what might be considered ideology beforehand are just policy disputes (Late Roman Republic) or became outright religious movements (every Islamic schism and non-Confucian movement in the Sinosphere).

I’d say French Revolution and after IMO

The simple answer is this: modern day “liberals” aren’t really liberal — they’re hyper pro-establishment with religious woke embellishing tossed in.
The modern Left can be defined by a Statist approach that says, "Whatever government does is good. Whatever people do is bad."

It's the only way to explain why they are as bootlicking as they are and demand everyone work through the same bloated managerial systems they pretend to hate so much. Look at the efforts to help victims of the hurricane down in North Carolina. Every bootlicker telling off civilians for volunteering their own time and resources to work through FEMA is undeniably a Statist who thinks government is perfect for everything. It's so subtle a Marxist ideal that they probably aren't even aware of it.

The modern left almost by instinct assumes government powers good until they are told they aren't good via propaganda in the media saying a government is terrible because it oppresses freedoms or some shit, which is ironic considering less government intrusion normally allows more liberty since you don't get overly bureaucratic machines sending SWAT teams to go euthanize an innocent squirrel.

Sorry for the double post for anyone, but why is there so little YouTube content on the English civil war outside of some bbc docs and kings and generals which is trash. What little content there is just seems to be battles autism which is okay but I really can’t stand battle autism for more then like 30 mins
Probably because it is complicated and weird. Like the parliamentarians aren't clearly liberals or conservatives and Charles the First was an asshole who had it coming so really no one wants to touch it, and after Charles the Second came to power everyone swept the whole situation under the rug to save face. The only people who really care are people who like Oliver Cromwell for one reason or another.

Because there is very little interest in it and it doesn't possess a place inches popular zeitgeist.

There's also the matter that Charles II's absolutist reign was heralded as an end of parliamentarian tyranny, which is so at odds with the average person's understanding of politics nowadays that it might as well be fantasy. That and Charlie still makes republicans seethe to this day, which is how you know he was the last great English monarch.

The slander James II gets to this day is a disgrace. He was no saint but he was a far better man than any MP in Parliament ever was.

I stopped paying attention to him. Doesn't he do this like twice a year?
Well I dont pay much attention to him either, but after quick look in his library. IMG_20241129_172509.jpg

Set up a Patreon and a merch store and shut the fuck up. Better yet get a real fucking jobs, god how do you YouTubers not realize how obnoxious this shit is. At this point the algorithm has been famously fickle for almost 10 years, find alternative income sources. Some of the best channels on YouTube are people doing it as a hobby not a job

TLDW: Shadiversity bitches for quarter of hour about YouTube algorithm.
And claims he will start making lot of low effort slop in attempt to try to game it.
The whole “medieval armaments” section of YouTube is one of the worst communities on the site. The commenters are either crayon eating retards like any UFC/MMA/Military Motivational video (I’ve legitimately seen comments that are basically saying “when he says red, he really means red guys, he knows how red red is in a way few men do.”), or pretentious fucking fedoras. The YouTube creators are almost always pasty white losers from Britain who sound like they have downs, whose entire personality is smugly correcting people about misconceptions (and still getting it wrong), and bitch and moan about YouTube drama.

Just shut the fuck up, chill the fuck out, and talk about the history of the Falchion you fucking neckbeard.

He basically got subsumed by the EFAP sphere for a good two years, which I think is really what did his channel in as far as the algorithm is concerned.

Matt Christman from ChapoTraphouse did an interesting series on the 30 years war with an episode covering the French Wars of Religion and the English Civil War/War of the Three Kingdoms. Episode 9 and 10 of this series covers England.
