Moot at this point. His snowflake system is an ingrained part of the industry and there have been folks who have been following in his wake (Sapp and other guys whose names I'm forgetting.) If he were to stop covering wrestling tomorrow (or die in Minecraft) I don't think anything would be affected.

Although I am curious if he has a long spergy obit prepped for himself whenever he croaks. That's one thing a lot of people I think underrate Meltzer on: he is an autistic wrestling encyclopedia and his obits are usually really good reads.

It didn't help that all matches they had with the Brothers of Destruction were fucking garbage. Bryan Clark got seasoned to HWA and quit when they suggested him to get in shape (lol) And Adams got fired because he wanted to make it work but didn't quite reached into the main roster standards.

Yeah, I honestly don't know, but I thought that Clark/Adams were part of the BSK or whatever dumb fraternity thing he had going with guys like Godfather and Yoko. Maybe I'm mixing people up, though.

I did know about the demotion thing, but it makes sense. 2 established veterans and 'locker room leaders' are part of a disasterpiece match with 2 new guys from the other company? Not hard to figure out who was going to be punished/facing retribution. (Related: Daniel Puder.)

I remember watching WWF as a kid and Shawn Michaels came out in a flamboyant shiny outfit. My uncle called him a faggot and everyone laughed. For the longest time I thought Shawn was actually gay. Especially with that faggy “boy toy” theme.

the brief time Shawn was on the top was a bleak time for the WWF, there wasnt really a in-depth main event scene, Shawn was not appealing to male fans so Vince was relying on a teen girl auidence that barely existed at that point, 1995-1996 is honestly comparable to 2018-2019 when it comes to the fans not giving a shit

Should be a good show too if its post Saturday night Main Event. Could see them slowly building up Raw so it's on fire for Netflix. The two hour run time has helped a lot imho.

Meltzer is a spaz, and he's incredibly biased, but I think if he retired or died or some shit, that would be very, very bad for the wrestling "journalism" biz. Because he's such a big name to the smarks, he acts as a bulwark against the tranny horde who would have already taken over in that sector. I don't think he's trying to be, but he does seem to be an effective gatekeeper. Without Dave, things could be considerably worse.

True, there is very little journalism going on in regard to wrestling coverage. It's mostly just click bait bullshit, and cheerleading for their favorite fed, but still, if not for Dave and his cronies, you'd instead have to see article after article about how wrestling needs to be "queered" (as if it wasn't gay enough already, lol)and needs more trannies in it at every level. The dirtsheets not calling out AEW on how mediocre it is at the moment is a huge part of the problem.

Honestly wouldn't matter. He's so ingrained into the scene that Dave will never truly go away. But I'm speaking as part of the IWC, which isn't truly representative of the wrestling fan community at large. Most people - your average Joe who watches WWE/AEW and occasionally watches PPVs or goes to live events - probably don't even know he exists. You don't have to go out of the way to find Meltzer, but the discussions around him are mostly from terminally online autists that ride his dick and serve as his paypiggies. With all that said, I do think Dave has done his part in moving the industry. Dirt sheets are scummy to begin with, but WON used to honestly have some good journalism. Dave, however, is like any other human being and has biases against certain wrestlers and promotions, so you have to take everything with a grain of salt; and since most of what he reports on tends to be rumors, you have to be even more careful.

I think Dave has just allowed himself to feel important because there's a promotion that actively looks for his approval (and ONLY his approval) to be successful. AEW clearly doesn't care about the people that have invested their time, money, and emotions into their product because those people (again, your average Joe just looking for entertainment) don't give stupid little stars for matches. The fans that do end up sucking up whatever slop AEW serves are nothing more than Meltzer marks doing their part to run damage control. All the bullshit going on now (and for the last few years) in AEW has all been Meltzer wet dreams about "dream matches" and fantasy booking. Meltzer may as well be head of that company and Khan the financier.

So overall, I really don't think we'd see a big shift if Meltzer just disappeared. Not immediately anyway. Meltzer is just a symptom of a much larger sickness that pervades the IWC.

itll be the RAW after Saturday Nights Main Event so I imagine it will be a good one, my last live WWE show I went to was Survivor Series 2013, I remember some Smark yelling at my Younger Cousin who was like 12 at the time chanting for Cena to get-up during his match, luckily that was the only time ive experienced an asshole at a live Wrestling Show, fortunately (especially now) most people are normal and realize its going to be loud

It's getting to the point where it's unforgivable how badly AEW is booked with the talent pool that they have. They are going to start losing the better "originals" that they built up because they keep getting cut off at the knees.

Ospreay is arguably the best in-ring guy at the moment and the top 10 matches of 2024 could all just be him vs. whoever and i'd agree with it but he's just sort of in some sort of midcard limbo at the moment. He still gets a great reaction form the crowd but if they don't put the belt on him soon that's going to go away.

He's just one example of hot talent being completely mismanaged because TK seems to have ADHD and forgets what direction he's going with his storylines week to week.
