My question is why did he grant the pardon with 48 days left? Normally this is something that happens on the last day when all the O2 is sucked out of the room by the incoming President.

Is his health that bad that he’s worried he might not last another couple of months?

Is he contemplated/worried about stepping down/being 25th’d?

The timing doesn’t make a lot of sense here.

A couple of reasons have floated about:

1. Hunter's sentencing is a couple of weeks away

2. Trump just announced one of his biggest loyalists (Patel) is going to be the new head of the FBI so any pardon has to be a blanket pardon for EVERYTHING

3. And the big one, granted one that is currently only rumor, is that Hunter and his dad had a huge fight over the Thanksgiving holiday with Hunter confronting Joe on him dragging his feet on pardoning him and the implication that Joe might make good on his pledge to not pardon Hunter. And Hunter (allegedly) dropping the mother of all MAD threats against Joe by claiming he (again allegedly) has written up a book basically laying bare ALL of the crimes of the Biden family relating to Ukraine and Joe's role in it, and has a publisher ready to publish it within days of Joe leaving office, if he doesn't give him not only a pardon but a blanket pardon at that for the last decade worth of depravity and evil Hunter has done.

Yes. You can only invoke your right against compelled self incrimination if you can actually be punished. If you’re pardoned or given immunity, you can be compelled to testify.

How did the USA manage to handle the currying better than Canada? I know we all like to shit on Indians but US Pajeets are one of the highest earning ethnic groups.

Because, despite how it gets abused, there is still a hard cap on H1bs and some minimal standard to get one. Canada appears to have no limits whatsoever.

Additionally Canada is really only 3 metro areas despite its landmass. Most pajeets did not move out to rural Canada or up north in places like Yellowknife.

DFW alone is nearly bigger than all three of them combined. Pretty much Canada dumped >2 million pajeets into DFW in barely over a year. That's the equivalent.
