How hard is it to make a site that is "here, download rom, no need to interact with trannies, you're welcome". Why are they inviting these parasites everywhere? what kind of spell are they placing on site owners?

I've had situations where people volunteer to help me manage websites and they know to hold back their autism and present themselves normally online. Then once they get power, they gradually drop the mask and I realize I let a lunatic in.

While Google got cucked by DMCA, some search engines don't have to deal with that. I use Yandex for this stuff. It doesn't have to deal with DMCA because its located in Russia.
If you can't find it on Yandex, then use Soulseek. In my experience, everything is on there if you wait long enough.

Just a reminder, ROM works for systems that use chip based storage or for stuff that is downloaded from digital distribution, ISO or BIN/CUE is the term you want to use to look for disc based games.

Most systems have an extension they tend to use the most, if you know that, search for that file extension in particular if the general term of ROM does not work, for example SMC/SFC for SNES/Super Famicom, NES/FDS for NES/Famicom, etc...

If you need to look up the file extension most used for a given system this is probably your best bet:

I hear Vimm’s Lair is still recommended. Rom dumps are usually from better sources (Redump, No-Intro) on Vimm, and that matters, especially if you want to ever patch translations or modify roms.

As others have said, the site was recently raided by the big guns, but depending on the platform you want to emulate, there’s still tons of stuff:
- Sega consoles, specifically MKIII, Genesis, Saturn, Dreamcast have their catalogues largely untouched save for several Sonic games and some stuff from bigger publishers like Capcom/Konami
- PSX and PS2 are also reasonably well represented
- PS3 is a graveyard thanks to the raid. There are oddities though; Japanese versions of the MGS franchise are up whereas the EU/US/World versions are prohibited.

I’ve not heard about the Nintendo/Xbox sections save for the obvious significant removals from, well, Nintendo and Microsoft.

For Arcade roms, you really need to invest the time and storage capacity to downloading a full romset (3000+ games) to make sure it all works properly. Vimm has individual arcade roms but that isn’t recommended - seek full romsets and the corresponding version of MAME and ye shall find.

Troons, pedofaggots and animal rapists make up the majority of retro enthusiasts at this point. It started getting really bad when speedrunning got popular. Gatekeeping, insulated and private communities, and financial incentive for things like emulators, romhacks or translations would have kept them out. The only ones who program, code, or hack anything for these obsolete consoles for free are trannyfaggots who have nothing better to do. The ones who are not trannyfaggots are either retarded, lazy, and incompetent, have no balls and will get on their knees the instant they get called out for not respecting pronouns, or both

Thread tax: If you are downloading from archive.org make sure you use direct downloads and not the torrents. The torrents are automatically generated by archive.org and almost never contain the complete list of items, especially for big uploads like complete rom sets

This is absolutely correct. You must fucking gatekeep. If you sense even the slightest whiff of leftism or acceptance of troonery, trust them with nothing sensitive because those are the biggest red flags possible.

I'd say its more a problem of normal people not standing up to this shit and not caring because "its just the internet so who cares?" is still the prevailing attitude today.

Myrient is good. Simple layout, no nonsense. or riddled with pop ups. You can get full sets of stuff also.

Pleasure Dome use to be really good before it was shut down. I think they were really strict on maintaining the quality of the rom dumps for systems.
