lol I have a relative who paid into like a workers compensation insurance (it would cover if you became unable to work). They paid this insurance for like 25 years straight (they were an independent worker/freelancer so they go this insurance completely independently).

They ended up with a dehabilitating sickness that prevented them from working (early onset dementia). They filed a claim and the insurance company was like "nah".

Took 2-3 years of paperwork autism to actually get a payout.

Fuck insurance companies.

Still, any primary carrier will settle with arbitration or some sort of settlement instead of going into a legal battle. Hell, most DOI complaints alone will scare into some form of settlement.
