UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson fatally shot outside Hilton hotel in Midtown in targeted attack: cops - Just Part and Parcel of visiting a Big City

Americans know their system is evil but just assume it's the lesser evil. It's not. I've experienced the healthcare of three other countries. If every American knew how bad you have it, there would be one of these killings every day.
To play devil's advocate, the US Government is evil and retarded so putting them in charge of healthcare is very scary.

It is actually insane to see Americans defending their broken third-world system because Ben Shapiro or somebody told them that socialist countries just feed you to the dogs if you ever get sick and they accept that uncritically.

The reality is that the State is built on fiat power. People believe the State has the power to crush them so the People accept the State's decisions to crush them. In reality the State doesn't have enough time and resources to crush everybody. It lacks the resources to even enforce things the People at large support. But what the State does is try to fall like a ton of bricks on anyone who might erode the Fiat Power. The silver lining is that with each silencing more resources are expended and more people are made aware, eroding that power.
Yeah I’d agree with that.
Do you feel better that he's been executed for upholding something that Americans have supported for decades? Was murdering him the correct answer?
There is no correct answer that makes everything better other than a drastic remodelling of the entire system.
You guys sound like a bunch of complete psychopaths
The point for me isn’t glorying in someone’s death - even shitty people will be missed by someone. It’s that we live in a system so anti-human that a massive corporation gets to casually decide who lives and who dies to make a tiny percentage extra profit.
The system is broken. Well it’s broken for the people living under it. The purpose of a system is what it does, and the system works very well indeed to enrich a very small number of people. But the system is SUPPOSED to be there to give people healthcare. The NHS has a million faults, but if you’ve got cancer nobody is kicking you out becasue your insurance is done. Is it perfect? No it’s not, but it’s a bit more humane than the worst bits of the insurance type systems.
When you see people on both sides of the divide laughing at this guys death, you can see the whole system is no longer fit for purpose. His family will be mourning him, and I will bet the guy who shot him also has a tale of death/sickness and mourning a loved one too.

And yet it’s revolutionary to even suggest there could be a better way of giving people healthcare. Make it mainly public, with a little private, keep your country population homogenous and encourage them to be in good health in the first place by treating them like humans, not economic units to be used and disposed when broken.

One one hand, yeah fuck him. On the other, isn’t this kind of the CEO’s job in a twisted way?

A general trend that I’ve observed is that a company does something shitty, the CEO steps down while the shitty change is kept and eventually people forget because they were placated by the CEO getting fired. It’s primal, the buck has to stop somewhere. A CEO offers that service, in life and seemingly in death. That’s why Indians are great CEOs, forgettable name, no cult of personality beyond the company itself so they’re not at risk of making any changes that the shareholders won’t want, you can fire them and nobody will care.

I had to get a tooth removed in an evil socialist country. I got both a dentist and a dental surgeon scheduled the same day and paid €50 out of pocket. They even warned me the price would be very expensive because I don't have insurance.

I usually don't watch people dying on camera but this one is interesting. Guy doesn't just off him, he very calmly makes sure the job is done. He must have been fucked over pretty hard by some bullshit insurance denial to be that cold. Wonder if they'll ever find who it is, I'd be really curious to hear the entire story.
I'm surprised how fast and efficient it was too. He was quick but methodical. Dude knew his shit and showed no panic.

Every gangland shooting I can remember is a jumble of motion, followed by a guilty run.

This guy came out of a movie the way he handled it.

Americans are so fucking retarded, you deserve the bullet as much as this man.

I don't care if you give me your little faggot reactions calling my post dumb, avocation of murder makes you a little bitch and just shows how fucking brain rotten your country has become. This man was probably a piece of shit but he inherited a system you had designed yourself. Now smug little kiwifarms and tumblr warriors are happy at the open execution of a man for running a system you built yourself just shows how fucking stupid you all are.

I say this as a Bulgarian whos system is completely rotten and our political system is so fucked at this time it's a miracle we aren't in chaos. Never have I talked to people in my country who would be okay with murdering opposition, not that it hasn't happened in our history.

It's easy to talk shit about the transgenders you hate when they advocate murder and other degenerations but you are okay with a man being murdered because of his occupation no different than the homosexuals you hate. So go ahead and call me a pussy, bootlicker, all of that, but you are just as bad as the degenrates I joined this forum to ridicule.

Cowards.
You aren't wrong, those companies are layers of employees and managers fucking up vulnerable people to get promoted, but still it's important to send a message.

I've gone through the last 900-odd images by mostly skipping to highlights, so maybe I've missed it, but:

has anyone put forth any idea about how the gunman knew where to find this guy? Was the CEO a fan of walking in his suit at 6:40AM at this part of NY regularly or something? I thought I read he was coming out of a hotel; if so, that's very interesting that someone knew where to find him!

As someone who has previously worked in the healthcare industry. Which has done everything in it's power over four entire decades to somehow make every single step of healthcare worse for patients and anyone even willing to work with patients from getting antibiotics for a sinus infection to a kid with a bronze plan a multi-hour ordeal with bullshit call chains.
Don't forget illegal and regular immigrants importing half, if not all, their family for free healthcare. That's the biggest issue.
Anecdotally, I just think it's interesting that the average citizen and veterans are given an unbelievably hard time with all matters in health insurance, while illegals and ""amnesty"" migrants who are frequently entitled and can't speak the local language, get 80-90% coverage for pretty much anything they want without even having to meet their deductible.

UHC took down their leadership page, but I found an archive on /r/StupIdPol
Isn't listing the board members a legal requirement?
Yea but it's not required to have it on their website. They just need to list it on their 10-K/Q or proxy statement filed with the SEC.
Here's their most recent proxy statement. It also has executive compensation etc. Looks like Brian's base salary was 1mil a year and another 1.2 bonus. You can find the rest of their filings on SECs EDGAR search https://www.sec.gov/edgar/search/#/dateRange=all&entityName=UNH

Was that in Australia? Dental isn't covered by our free health insurance so everyone here just pays the $200 or so out of pocket whenever we need an emergency dentist and we do consider that to be very expensive.

Pretty sure extractions are always cheap cause they're just numbing you and ripping it out, if you had to get something more involved done then it'd probably be pretty expensive
