I feel very strange when I look at these events and see what passes for goty material these days. I am alienated from what people seem to expect and be satisfied with. I don't even give these games a try anymore. I looked up Wukong gameplay when it was getting hyped, saw an epic cinematic cutscene during a boss fight and my eyes started rolling on their own. Maybe it's a good game but it doesn't look like it's for me. Speaking as a lifelong Fromsoft fan, I don't even think Shadow of the Erdtree deserves to be on the list, it's not their best work. But it may as well be, since I can't think of a single other AAA title I was even remotely excited about. It makes me question why the fuck I even bought a 3070.

It was last year, but I am reminded of the shitpile that was Lords of the Fallen. The trailer actually looked half decent, but the game was complete trash when it released. So I guess if that's the standard, Shadow of the Erdtree might as well win because it seems like Fromsoft is one of the only video game companies worth a shit at this point. I've had an order of magnitude more fun with modded Minecraft than with trash like Lords of the Fallen.

This is my entire steam purchase history for 2024. I don't think I'm going to be buying anything else. I guess the silver lining here is that I can only guess at how much money I've saved over the years by pirating everything. We have never needed a gem like Silksong more than we do right now.

It's alright, 6 hour ish game. More of a audio/ visual showcase than anything.

BTW voting for Suicide Squad, not only because the game is a piece of shit and the developers are some of the most obnoxious I have ever seen, but because this game has been in development hell for like a decade and it's going to lead to shutting down Rocksteady like a bad habit. DA:V is a close second, but that one doesn't have Batman on a park bench getting shot in the head while a dangerhair monologues thru Harvey Quinn, which also happens to be Batman's VO last role before he died. Talk about a send off!

Im looking at my cart and I am still waiting for the inevitable discounts to ACVI, Space Marine II, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, Frostpunk complete version, the old og Stalker games, OG XCOM UFO Defense and og Dead Space.

Speaking of news, Players Choice first nominees are up and a half of it are gacha games. Dear fucking God.

if I recall correctly, the steam versions of the stalker games are bug ridden and unplayable because ukranians are retarded. if you find this to be the case, I suggest pirating the gog versions and using various essential mods such as ZRP to render them playable. OWR is also essential because the gun animations are dogshit.

Everything is the greatest when you're a kid. It just sucks that since about 2012 everything has actually been almost irredeemable dogshit cause they'll never figure it out.

Give it 5 to 10 years and you're going to have people saying Starfield is a great game because it's what they came to age with.

Anyways, only thing I'm looking forward to from the game awards are the rumors that Crimson Desert may finally get a release date. I won't watch it, and I'm pretty sure Crimson Desert will actually suck ass given every other game that's come out in the 2020's, but hey gotta have something you look towards on the horizon I guess :/
