I think the most telling thing about these photos is how heavily they contradict Elaine's woe-is-me mythologizing about how her parents treated her growing up.

Anyone that actually experienced childhood adversity knows there sure as fuck weren't lavish vacations to the Levant, climbing wall outings or parents proudly posting my latest culinary experiments.

Elaine resents her parents for not being rich because she feels entitled to the luxuries some of her friends had growing up.

Even now, as she eats ramen off a stained mattress, she still daydreams of being part of the 1%, owning multiple properties all on her own.
 
Elaine and I are certainly in agreement that she is the product of terrible parenting - However, she seems to regard love and support the same way she does money; eager to point to any resources squandered as proof that she wasn’t given enough of it, and therefore cheated by others and even the world, itself.
