I mean I can understand assuming Shmorky was a talentless hack that could only draw klurf shit, but I was a fan of his for a lot of stuff he did outside of SA like Purple Pussy and his Yoshi Comics which I am surprised never came up in this thread since their content is most at-odds with Shmorky as we know him now.

Nah I never thought he was a talentless hack.

I know all that stuff but I didn't remember them well enough to recall experimentation like the pic you posted. Still, even with that experimentation, I think >most of the time< the styles in his other projects were pretty in tune with his Flash Tub work, his Greytown-era stuff and his really recent work as far as the core aesthetic sense goes.

I still think creating the Sandy Pants style is far more interesting experimentation than anything I've seen from his Shmorky persona.

Not a particularly successful one considering who made it and what content it brought.

My highlight of the stream: this guy!

Fuck... now that I think about it, these comics absolutely scream "Shmorky cat drawings":

I guess what confused me was how utterly stiff the first few pictures looked. But I guess he could have just been getting used to his new style, or being lazy, or both.

And then this picture from the PeachesThePuppy account makes me think of Dave's early 2000s furry art. The proportions on the body and face: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1091714/

Yeah I was very likely wrong; Partydog got influenced by Shmorky's new style, not the other way around.

Also HOLY FUCK HE DREW GIFT ART FOR SOMEONE WHO DREW ME SOMETHING IN 2005 WHEN I WAS LIKE 13 http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1083087/

THIS IS UNREAL

Edit: That face/mouth on the last link are also very Shmorky
Exactly, you can tell that they are Shmorky's work when you know what your looking for. The stiffness in the early Sandy drawings likely came from the shift to drawing more angular, as it can be harder to create more fluid poses when you are away from smoother shapes. Also probably harder to do lines drawings aswell.....something I know from experience.

I definitely agree that Partydog is influenced by Sandy's style, and given that they seem to know eachother it fits. One thing I've learned from years of being in and out of art communities is that many peoples art, can become strongly influenced by those they are friend with...Infact I've seen people almost become artistic carbon copies from one another.

Oh come on, I was making lighthearted fun of null, not saying Kiwifarms was autistic, I was saying he was autistic. It was a joke, lighten up.

Anyway didn't want to press Lauren too hard on the shmorky thing because I'm not going to make my kid relive something that she doesn't want to relive for the purpose of mocking shmorky.

Also, once again, I want to restate that I have absolutely NOTHING against trans people. I believe people can be born one gender yet believe they should've been another gender. That's their choice and their body. I don't judge them.

I wonder what it's like knowing one of your biggest influences starting out was a Shmorky alt. At least Partydog's newer art got more honestly loose & cartoony since then; going through these uploads, god damn this is some great artistic evolution since the ironic hipster comic Asscastle days: https://twitter.com/partydogge/media

You're right about the "influenced by friends" online artist circlejerk thing and that's a point I've made myself countless times. I was just defending my "Partydog drew for Shmorky" claim for dumb petty reasons & refusing to consider what everyone else was saying; sorry about that. As soon as I considered "MAYBE I'm wrong" I instantly started noticing the Shmorky quirks.
