Do you remember that woman in LA who made vlogs of her riding a scooter around her urban neighborhood screaming at people? She was well known online. Polissa is obnoxious and entitled enough to do something similar if she was willing to confront people in public.

The scooter lady would drive full speed down sidewalks yelling at everyone to get out of her way. She'd even scream at confused homeless people who didn't move fast enough. Then she'd go into these low income ghetto stores and yell at the cashiers because the store wasn't handicapped accessible enough for her scooter. Whenever the over-worked cashier took an extra minute to open the door for her, she'd scream about that too.
That's "Mobility Mary". She died a couple of years back apparently. Her oeuvre ("excuuuuse meee siiiiiiiiiiiiiirrrr") is all over Youtube.

I was picturing her listening to Marcus Aurelius Meditations on audiobook while rearranging her Roman philosophers book collection.
She could get pissy about Seneca's view of women, and Cicero's yearning for the republic when it had been failing for a long time before he was alive. Express amazement about Lucretius's perspicacity/amazing luck. All preferably based on her own translations from Latin. Then she could read Kant in the original German, and Russell and Moore's Principia in the original English (if you know anything about this text you'll know this isn't a joke).

I actually find it really sad that Polissa is trying to come across as well read with this recent book stuff and her "woe is me" about being too fat to read. Its such an easy thing to address, even as someone on a very low income. I know its due to her laziness and being more inclined to pose than do, but its tragic.

I have met many people with a chip on their shoulder about how they weren't given good educational opportunities, but through their own grit and access to a library, have addressed the holes they were inclined to fill. Some can now, if given a bit of encouragement and practise, hold their own with people given every opportunity.

What Polissa is doing is a different type of stolen valour. Has she even expressed an interest in reading prior to this? She's missing out on one of the most accessible hobbies, that can develop your knowledge, compassion, creativity, ability to think beyond yourself, things she lacks. Somehow pretending to be interested in reading is worse than just not mentioning it.

2. HILARIOUS that she thinks “universal healthcare” would make medications more available! What a dumbfuck
I'm a brit and am not aware of medications being unavailable to those in need. We certainly don't limit anaesthesia and people with chronic conditions get free prescriptions. For others it's a flat fee of £9.90.

They do tend to try you on cheaper drugs first, and you may need to fight for a more expensive one. For really expensive ones they do some calculation based on price vs projected years with some level of quality of life to decide eligibility. There is a set of guidelines doctors have to follow for prescribing, if a drug isn't included in those it might be that you're shit out of luck but those will be much newer drugs with a poorer evidence base.

The difficult over here right now is getting a GP appointment in the first place to be able to get a prescription. In emergency situations its still very good and you will get the meds you need.

Can't speak for other countries.

I don't know what part of the UK you live in, but where I am there are huge shortages of a wide variety of medications. A friend of mine hasn't been able to get his ADHD meds for 6 successive months, and it's that way across most of the country. I once had to go to six different pharmacies until I found one that was even able to put my prescription on order, all the rest said there were such severe supply problems they weren't even allowed to request it. Last year several children died because there was a shortage of basic antibiotics. The UK has massive supply chain problems with medication, largely due to the Johnson government bungling Brexit and the NHS's inability to find its arse with both hands.

Urgh that's awful. I Googled this and it does appear to have been a problem at some point in 2022:

And earlier this year mentioning global supply chain issues that, as you said, are made worse for us with Brexit:

So I stand corrected.

I had a jaunt to hospital last year that involved them trying 3 antibiotics before finding one that did the trick, and a close friend recently had 12 weeks of IV antibiotics for a gnarly spinal infection. A few people in my social group have needed them recently, including amoxicillin which is mentioned in the article linked above, and haven't had an issue getting it. So fingers crossed, its resolved.

I'm sorry you've had to go through such a faff getting your own meds, that's really annoying. I dunno if you've tried Lloyds Direct but its convenient and I've never had delays with them, nor have my ageing parents who need quite a few prescriptions now. Might be worth a shot?

Mea culpa KF I went based on my own experiences without fact checking myself first.

So at first I was imagining a Vespa and not a mobility scooter, which drastically and hilariously changes this story.

The book about the low IQ guy who temporarily gets smart, but then regresses into an idiot again? Makes sense Polissa would like that book, when she has so much in common with the beginning and the end.
Let's not fool ourselves - she didn't voluntarily read that book. I strongly recall it being a part of the 10th grade curriculum when I was back in high school.

She's listing off books every person around her age has read as part of scholastic required reading.

I'll only be impressed when she starts to list books that weren't required. Bring out Melville, Pissa! How about Lewis Carroll (and not Alice in Wonderland or Through the Looking Glass - Jabberwocky is acceptable, but The Game of Logic would actually impress me)? Heck, Issac Asimov (my personal favorite)!! But let's not fool ourselves - she's about as well-read as my parrot.

I wasn’t referring to the UK but have experience with two other countries with socialized medicine, and they’re just as cheap and stingy as American privitized insurance (in my personal experience). It’s less about shortages and more about switching a health insurance company for a government. Not that different! I guess it would be an improvement for an American who has NO insurance, but it would magically fix healthcare by a long shot. tl;dr: Polissa is a moron and lacks nuance

I love how all of her books are off an eighth grade summer reading list.

The UK has massive supply chain problems with medication, largely due to the Johnson government bungling Brexit and the NHS's inability to find its arse with both hands.
In Australia, all medication is subsidised. There's different levels of subsidies depending on income, and less common medication usually tends to cost more but not always. Any shortages are because of global supply chain issues, for example the global legal amphetamine shortage we had this year.

It's far from a perfect system but it usually limps along okayishly. There are a lot of laws around public advertisements of prescription drugs, so it's not as openly corrupt as, say, the US (although I've no doubt it's still pretty seedy).

In Australia, all medication is subsidised.
No it isn’t. Many are, with caps at $29 for non healthcare card holders, and around $7-8 for card holders (basically pensioners). I’ve absolutely had medications prescribed with hefty price tags, because they are not on the PBS. Those with private health insurance extras might get some of this cost reimbursed, those without will get nothing. The really expensive medications (eg the MABs, monoclonal antibodies) will have a long list of qualifications, and only be allowed to be prescribed by the appropriate specialists to be subsidised. It’s not all sunshine and oranges in Australia, but at least if you are in an emergency situation you might get treatment promptly and without charge. Not where I live though as our local public hospital ER is run by private doctors, and they charge like wounded bulls, and you better hope your emergency doesn’t happen after hours or on the weekend (or your wait time can be extended to include after hours) because you’re seriously going to be paying for that.

I know Polissa herself is mentally challenged, but I have to take issue with this:

It was the 90s after all, and it was rare to see mentally challenged people in public spaces

Like, what? I'm around Pissa's age; I don't remember a time that there wasn't full-fledged retards even in public schools. It wasn't the 1890s.

Tv and movies had only grazed over their stories

Seriously? What about Life Goes On? Riding the Bus with my Sister? The 90s is when you could play, or be, a retard on tv without it being "problematic." Not to mention that Flowers for Algernon itself was made into a popular, award-winning movie (Charly) in the 60s.

She can easily paint in a small space. Youtube is loaded with creators filming "paint with me" videos in tiny apartments all over Asia. They just set out their stuff on a table and start painting.

She makes small paintings with acrylic, so they dry super fast and don't stink. She doesn't need to buy anything other than extra painting paper or a sketchbook (you don't need canvas for acrylic). She already has the paints and the brushes.

Good quality acrylic paper pads cost roughly 12 bucks for 10 sheets of 9x12 paper. A spiral bound "mixed media" pad would be much cheaper per sheet and even more convenient.

She could even take the paints and paper somewhere public, as you see with the trendy "urban sketching" movement. It would be good for her to get out of the house. Some old ladies would probably come over and compliment her.

Miserable people making each other miserable. She'll probably get thrown out by New Years.

I'm surprised Tyler moved her and Joh in when he didn't have an extra room. He's got to realize those two are grifters who will never leave voluntarily.

She says the stupidest fucking things.

I saw far more Downies in public when I was young than I do today. There were always a few bagging groceries or clearing tables at restaurants. Every school had some too.

The prenatal testing that finds chromosome mutations didn't get really popular until a few decades ago, so babies with Downs were far more likely to be born back then.

Oh my god. Is that it?! Are there actually fewer tards and downies in schools now? Is that why younger people get confused when I say speds can be assholes (because they're people); they haven't had as much firsthand experience?

The abortion rate for Downs Syndrome fetuses in the US is between 67 percent and 85 percent, depending on the study. The rate is 90 percent in the UK. There are more fetuses being conceived with Downs, since mothers are having babies older now, but the vast majority are aborted.

But there are more kids with Autism now than there were way back when. So there are probably as many tards as ever, they just don't have that obvious Downie face.

There's literally ZERO chance she has READ 20 books. She gets exhausted holding an iPad and thinking to hard. And have you ever seen her talk about a book before? No? Weird. She MAYBE skimmed two when she was in school and they were assigned. Watching a tiktok video about someone showing a book they bought isn't "reading a book" you stupid bitch lol.

She still thinks she's getting a mattress settlement (and between 2-25k LOL). "Only", pissa your entire body isn't worth $5 unless you were trying to sell it as shelter in some third world country. You're fat as fuck and smoke weed all day but you're worried about your Grade A million dollar lungs?

Also rofl @ "kiwifarms has even pictured my demise" pissa your own body does that on a minute to minute basis
